I notice that the IRC channel for the South African Drupal community, #drupal-za, is pretty quiet these days. Is anyone still interested in using it?
The details:
* Server: freenode.net
* Channel: #drupal-za
If you don't want to install an IRC client you can use the online Freenode Webchat client: https://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#drupal-za

Good to have, I think...
It is very quiet yes, I log in once in a blue moon.
Still, I think it's worth keeping around and perhaps with the national meet-ups starting to pick up we'll eventually get to a place where someone does a talk or offers to assist via IRC and it will become more chatty.
I was just on-boarding a new staff member and when we got to the IRC installation I skipped over it. Prob shouldn't have and I did promise to set her up with IRC later and showed her the more active Drupal and Linux Mint channels.
coolness. yeah we must try
coolness. yeah we must try and get the community into the channel. it's lonely all on my own :D. ive setup hexchat on my desktop so i'm logged in pretty much all the time these days.
my irc name is theamoeba (surprise :P)
Nightwatch
I'm Nightwatch on there - one of the few places I still use a handle from the days when I used to run Gothic nightclubs in Johannesburg in the 90s ;-)
Thanks for the nice just there just now.
yeah it was nice to chat to
yeah it was nice to chat to you. been forever.
gothic nightclubs, that sounds like fun. hehe.
Meetup Topic
I also haven't logged in in ages, but would be good to grow this again.
Perhaps we could have brief talks at respective meetups about this, how to get up and running, etiquette etc.
i would be happy to chat
i would be happy to chat about getting up to speed with IRC.
But there is also a ton of helpful documentation on d.o.
I would recommend the Hexchat IRC client, it is an open source fork of Xchat and is completely free/cross platform: http://hexchat.github.io/downloads.html
