Local Drupal Introductions/Connections

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I see that there are 450 people listed as "members" of this online group. Last I checked the turn-out at local meet-ups and happy hours is a bit smaller. :-)

As an experiment, I'm starting this discussion as an opportunity for all local Drupal folks (including those who can't make the meetings) to:

1) Introduce themselves
2) Share something about their involvement in Drupal
3) ALSO - indicate what they are looking for in the Drupal community at this time (a little matchmaking).
examples:
* Looking for projects
* Looking for internship
* Looking for job
* Looking to hire
* Looking for contractors
* Looking for partners
* Looking for mentor
* Looking for co-working opportunities in Woodbury
* Looking for a roommate at Drupal Con
* etc..... (be creative)

I'll start. (Hint: I had selfish reasons for starting this topic).

My name is Tim Erickson and some of you will recognize me as a regular at local Drupal meet-ups and happy hours. I'm on the 2013 TC Drupal Camp planning committee.

My drupal.org account is just over 3 years old (http://drupal.org/user/752364). However, I've I really dove head-first into Drupal about a year ago after closing the doors on Chinese Restaurant I owned for a short time.

I got started doing some basic work on Drupal Core at last years TC Drupal Camp and continue to participate on a semi-regular basis with Drupal Core Mentoring (http://drupal.org/core-office-hours).

For many years, I was volunteer/staff with E-Democracy.org (http://www.e-democracy.org), I continue to work with them as opportunities arise. I'm currently handling some of their user support requests (a few hours per week). In addition, I'm slowing wading back into the arena of freelance web development and helping small businesses with their social media needs.

I do Drupal site-building, theming, and some design.

I am available for freelance projects and contract work. Also, willing to entertain employment or partnership opportunities.

I'm a beginner with PHP but would love opportunities to practice/develop my PHP skills and learn Javascript.

I am Heidi and have yet to attend a meet-up or any Drupal MN event. I joined the group to watch what is going on around this area.

I do Drupal site-building, theming and no-design. My clients usually have a design. I am a freelancer that works with a few web marketers/project managers that hire out their web work to me. If their workflow is slow, I pick up more jobs on elance. I only have a few clients that I have met in person.

I work with Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla. With Drupal being my favorite platform to build on. I like doing sites that perform functionality. I have been doing web development for about 5 years and the last 3 years full-time.

My involvement with Drupal is mainly using the different modules. I pose questions in the drupal module issues queues and when something doesn't work take a look into it and try find the fix and post back for the module maintainer to incorporate. Not quite at the point of rolling out patches for them into dev.

I am available for freelance projects and contract work. Also, willing to entertain employment or partnership opportunities.

Most of you probably know me because for the longest time this group had me listed as the administrator - because I started the group. However, I live over the river in Wisconsin and don't get to meetings real often.

I run Cruiskeen Consulting LLC over here on my farm outside of Downsville, WI. The company is primarily a Drupal shop and hosting company. We have our own farm of servers in Eau Claire, WI, and they're pretty well-tuned for Drupal, from shared through VPS to dedicated hosting. We're looking for folks as hosting clients and can do pretty specialized hosting arrangements, Varnish, Memcache, etc. Also reseller accounts.

I work mostly with nonprofit groups, newspapers, and state agencies. A lot of my time these days is spent with the Twin Cities Daily Planet and a few other larger clients, but there are almost always some little web projects going on. We also have a Wordpress person and some theming/design folks.

I occasionally need to have people help out on a contracting basis - if you're interested in some of that sort of work let me know.

I'm heading out to Portland for Drupalcon - maybe we can meet up there.

(Great idea, Tim)

I've been doing Drupal sites for nonprofits for almost ten years. I'm especially fond of setting them up with TechSoup, DreamHost, and Google Apps. I occasionally attend the Drupal user groups hosted at Advantage Labs.

I'm actually pretty busy for the next several months, but I'm usually looking for contract projects. If someone wanted to hire a Drupal developer full time for nonprofit work, I'd be very interested.
