Affected version
29.83
Device Type
Smart TV/Box
Affected Android
Android TV 14
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Use Google Chromecast with Google tv 4k (possibly other streamers without AV1 hardware decoding)
- Open smarttube
- Have a default videopreset like 1440p or up of VP9 format
- Watch video that has av1 encoded streams (and no vp9)
Actual behavior
Watch a lot of stuttering or dropped frames about half or more so 100s in seconds
Additional information
I have tried many of the dev options in video settings but none changed the behavior. You need to be able to give either some kind of preference (black/whitelist) for codecs, or the app should know supported codecs from device and use that to select stream. In this case I would desire to get 1080p vp9 that does not drop frames over violent stuttering o. My 2k (vp9) preset that now choose av1 2k stream.
Note that this is not in all videos as some videos still only have vp9/avc, but from experience more and more videos get av1 from 2k and up.
