This GitHub issue is for collecting web developer signals for overflow-clip-margin.

Let a small interactive affordance (e.g. a column-resize handle) overhang a couple px past its container's edge, without disabling overflow: hidden's text-truncation for everything else in that same container.
What I'm having to do in the meantime
Accepting the overhang gets clipped in browsers without support (graceful degradation — the handle is just a bit narrower to grab there, not broken). The alternative is computing the element's position from a sibling/ancestor instead of letting it live naturally in its actual container, which gives up the free alignment normal layout already provides.
