Does Fedora need this fix quickly? While I don't have enough reason to cut a hotfix yet, I can include this if it'd be helpful for Fedora. |

Not reallly. We release the afected Fedora (43) in October. And our packaged pip was patched already. This can likley wait for the next pip release. If people pip install -U pip on a CI with Fedora 43 and hit problems, I'll let you know. |

As a side note, when I run
nox -s vendoring -- --upgrade truststoreit happily added all my dirty files to the commit (including some ages old Python 2 pyc files) 😱 -- I redid it from a clean tree.
