Do I need any special repository settings for my work?

Hello,

I mainly use GitHub repositories to store and manage my code for personal or small projects.

I would like to know if there are any specific repository settings that are required or recommended for my type of work, or if the default repository configuration is usually sufficient.

At the moment, I am not working in a large team and do not require complex workflows.

Private the repo to ensure only you have access to the code.

I personally use .env's on my local test machine to set specific variables, just be concious github automatically disables .env sync in the gitignore (which is correct for security)
