GitHub login requires email code - 2FA is disabled (remote device does not happen) #165881

Very annoying, from my home PC only, every time I login to GitHub I have to open email and locate the 2FA code. Since I have already disabled 2MF under "Password and authentication" e.g. Two-factor authentication is not enabled yet. How to disable this annoyance ? |

I am in desperate need of customer service and have been directed to the forums as a means of getting that resolved. |

Even if 2FA is disabled, GitHub sometimes still sends a verification code to your email as an extra security check — especially if:
You're logging in from a new device or location (IP address changes)
You're using private/incognito mode or your browser clears cookies/session data
You're not selecting “Remember me” during login
To reduce this:
-> Make sure cookies are enabled in your browser
->Check “Remember me” on the login screen
-> Avoid clearing cookies/session data too often on that home device
Unfortunately, there's no official way to completely disable these verification emails — it's GitHub's way of protecting your account when things look slightly…
