Operations executive and AI builder in Denver, Colorado.
I'm Kaleb Hoffer, VP of Strategy & Execution at Offen Petroleum, a regulated, multi-state fuel distributor, where I lead the company's AI and technology transformation and write much of it myself.
I treat AI as a practical execution layer rather than a buzzword: automation that removes manual work, connects disconnected systems, and gives teams the visibility to make better decisions faster.
What I work on
- Operations automation: AP audit, invoice reconciliation, and ERP posting pipelines for high-volume, regulated workflows
- Decision intelligence: dashboards and data pipelines that turn fragmented operational data into something leaders can act on
- Quantitative systems: event-driven Python services with real-time market data, risk controls, and full audit trails
- Open research: reproducible, source-cited evidence engines for public-interest questions
Selected public work
- NSMPA: an open, reproducible audit of how 1,800 U.S. newsrooms and journalism organizations handle requests to unpublish, de-index, or anonymize old stories. Every finding is quoted verbatim with its source.
- OptionDesk: an open-source starting point for building an intraday options trading platform. It covers strategies, risk limits, contract selection, position sizing, exits, paper and Schwab brokers, backtesting and a dashboard, with secrets kept out of code and config.
- theta-terminal-client: a small, typed Python client for the Theta Terminal v3 options-data API, with sync and async support. It handles the Terminal's undocumented response formats, status codes and connection failures so trading and research code doesn't have to.
- Archive Ethics Project: a research initiative on news-archive and de-indexing policy, built on the NSMPA dataset.
