I have searched the existing issues, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate report.
The bug
Is it normal that after not syncing for 5-7 days, the iOS app says 8k pics need backup now? Uploaded them all one by one. NAS fan went crazy, and the total pic number did not change at all. So re-uploaded everything, for no reason because everything was backed up except 10-20 recent pics but certainly not 8k pics.
Again, the total was always the same! Im not sure why there was a need for re-upload, maybe the iOS app autoupdated in background and a new feature was introduced or something but it is not normal to re-upload 8599 pics/vids!
