MIDI2OSC TOOLS

This tool was created to help master student in the interaction design program at MAH to control audio synthesis software such as ableton live sending MIDI signals to prottotype their ideas in wizard of OZ situations. This is still a work in progress so we really appreciate your feedback.

##Setup virtual MIDI device The first step before downloading the lastest realease of this tool is to download any software which help us to create a virtual MIDI cable.

###Windows For windows users, you can download loopMIDI.

###Mac For Mac users, you can follow this tutorial.

##Setup Midi Input Now we have to assign our MIDI device, in this case we are going to explain how to do it with Ableton Live however it follow the same logic in other softwares. If you want to collaborate by adding the tutorial to connect with another software. Please don't hesitate to contact us.

###Ableton Live

  • Go to the Preference options in Ableton Live
  • Select the MIDI sync tab
  • On the Input column select on the first dropdown menu the name of the device you create in the previous step.
  • In the bottom side of this window in the MIDI port list toggle on Track and Remote.

##Setup MIDI2OSC As soon as you open the MIDI2OSC, the first thing you have to do is to setup the MIDI port you are planning to use.

  • Go to the Settings tab
  • Choose the MIDI port you created in the first step
  • I KNOW!!! THAT IS IT!!!

At this point MIDI2OSC is able to send MIDI notes however we have to assign them in the target interfase.
