The Smiths Detection Defence and Urban Security CBRNe Bulletin launches in April. It is designed to share practical insight on the developments shaping defence and emergency response. The first edition explores CBRNe detection in an increasingly connected digital battlespace. With input from Paul Rait, Defence Sales and Business Development Manager, it looks at how networked sensing can improve situational awareness and support more coordinated operational responses. It also looks at how the Lightweight Chemical Detector LCD 4 and UrbanAware software can turn detection data into clear, usable insight. Cargo inspection is moving beyond 2D. Through the MULTISCAN 3D project, Serge Maitrejean, our Ports and Borders Innovation Manager, and the Smiths Detection France team are contributing to the development of advanced 3D imaging for container inspection. By moving beyond the limits of 2D X-ray, this work is exploring how customs teams can gain a more detailed view of what is inside a container and where potential anomalies may lie. The focus is on improving: ➡ visibility into complex cargo environments ➡ detection of concealed illicit substances ➡ confidence in verifying cargo against documentation This reflects the broader direction of Smiths Detection’s Cargo Inspection Systems solutions: combining advanced imaging and smarter analysis to support more effective border security. A new milestone for Smiths Detection in India. Smiths Detection has officially opened its new Bengaluru office and Global Testing Centre. This marks an important step in strengthening our presence in India and reflects the increasing strategic importance of our operations within the global Smiths Detection network. Alongside Gurgaon, it will serve as a hub for capability building, cross-functional alignment and business acceleration. This investment also recognises the strength of our team in India and the role it continues to play in supporting our global growth. A special acknowledgement to our Global Digital Portfolio Director, Cymoril Metivier, who designed the new office with a clear vision to create a distinctive environment that foster collaboration, innovation and high-performance delivery.
