At Smiths, we are focused on solving some of the toughest problems facing the world today, to engineer a better future. In 2025, the Smiths Group Foundation supported Just a Drop to fund the construction of four sand dams in Kenya, a great example of low-tech, high impact infrastructure that has transformed water security for local communities. By capturing seasonal rains and storing them safely within sand, these structures provide year-round access to clean water for communities facing increasing climate pressures. This project particularly focused on women and children, who are disproportionately affected by the lack of access to clean water, given they spend hours each day walking to collect water, preventing them from education, work and opportunity. It’s a powerful example of how small interventions built on clever engineering and a commitment to making a positive impact can create long-term change. In 2026, NASA's Artemis II will carry humans around the Moon for the first time in over 50 years, a major step toward future missions to Mars. We’re proud that Smiths components will be part of that journey. Behind every launch are engineers, machinists and teams working to extraordinary levels of precision, where there is no margin for error, and every detail matters. Hear from Harry Mueller, Vice President of Innovation and Engineering in our Flex-Tek business, on what it takes to build for space and what it feels like to see your work leave Earth: https://lnkd.in/eRaR7n5H #ProudToBeSmiths NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration

It started with a simple question: how fast are we going? In 1904, King Edward VII posed that question during his drives to Newmarket, long before speedometers were a standard feature in cars. The answer came from Samuel Smith and his son, who developed the “perfect speed indicator”. Fitted to the King’s Mercedes-Simplex, Smiths created one of the first British speedometers, helping to bring this innovation into the mainstream. Within a few years, speed measurement became a standard feature of the modern automobile industry. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/evFCYzeP #ProudToBeSmiths

Developing skills today is essential to solving the challenges of tomorrow. That’s why it was great to see our John Crane team recognised twice at the Pump Industry Awards. From taking home the “Contribution to Skills & Training Award” for our long-standing partnership with The University of Sheffield, which helps to connect academic studies with real-world engineering opportunities, to celebrating emerging talent like Luke Norris with the “Rising Star Award”, these recognitions reflect our strong focus on building capabilities, developing talent, and sharing knowledge at every level. It’s a powerful reminder that investing in people is key to supporting critical industries and enabling the energy transition. #ProudToBeSmiths

HVAC systems help people cope with heat, an increasingly important challenge as the planet continues to heat up. But these systems are also responsible for 15% of global carbon emissions, and they lose up to 30% of their energy through leaky ductwork. Our Flex-Tek engineers have spent years rethinking that problem from first principles. The Blue Series ‘register box’ is the first answer: a patented, two-step installation that seals completely, installs in a third of the time, and needs no specialist labour. It’s a small component with large implications, providing a better solution for installers, builders and the planet. We're marking a major milestone for Smiths Detection as we reach 2,000 HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX systems in operations around the globe. Deployed across more than 100 airports globally, this advanced 3D X-ray scanner is helping operators strengthen security while improving the passenger journey. At a time when airports are facing increasingly tight regulatory and time constraints, our equipment helps to reduce false alarms and enables faster, more reliable screening, using AI-driven automatic detection. We’re grateful for the trust airports around the world place in Smiths Detection’s technology and expertise, as well as the team’s ongoing commitment to engineering excellence and innovation. #ProudToBeSmiths

Colleagues recently came together for a live webinar with our Executive Committee as part of Learning & Development Month, exploring what it truly means to live our Smiths Values every day. Our values – Integrity, Respect, Ownership, Customer Focus and Passion – are embedded in how we work and are lived daily by everyone at Smiths, from our Ex-Co to every team and individual colleague. During the session, each ExCo member shared their personal reflections on one of our five values, bringing to life how these behaviours shape our culture and guide our decisions. What made the conversation particularly impactful was the focus on the small, practical actions that keep our values alive and make a big difference. A huge thank you to our ExCo for sharing their insights, and to everyone who joined the discussion. Here’s to continuing to live the Smiths Values proudly for the next 175 years and beyond! #ProudToBeSmiths
