We were invited to a finance hackathon. We're a recruiting tool... We were (to our knowledge) the only recruiting tool in the room. Light x Lovable x Greenstep brought together CFOs, controllers, FP&A teams, and finance leaders from some of the best companies in Finland for a full-day AI hackathon. We were invited to join them and took it as a challenge. The problem we picked sits at the exact intersection of finance and TA. Salary data arrives too late in recruiting. You build the shortlist, get hiring manager alignment, do the work. Then you extend an offer and find out the compensation was never going to land. The friction isn't in the negotiation. It's in all the sourcing that happened before anyone checked the numbers. What we built: data-driven salary estimation pulled directly into the sourcing workflow, based on Clarvo's proprietary data. The way recruiters find talent is fundamentally changing. Not changing like "here's a new filter." Changing like the jump from job boards to LinkedIn. Most AI recruiting tools today still do the same thing LinkedIn does, keyword matching with a nicer interface. But the technology has moved way past that. Modern AI search doesn't look for words. It understands meaning. Search for "microservices engineer" and it finds the "distributed systems architect" whose profile never mentions microservices, because it understands they're the same thing. Had a great time at the Aaltoes panel last Wednesday sharing the Clarvo journey. One discussion point really stuck with me: “what was the most expensive lesson you’ve learned when building clarvo?” While there have been many lessons learned, the one that came to mind was building too quietly. “The product isn’t ready.” “Once we get this feature out, we’ll demo” Nope. The second we opened access to our product, we began to see the traction that we’d been expecting for months. 10s of recruiters signing up every day, tired of the sourcing processes they’ve been putting up with for years and we started learning our product and our bottlenecks faster than ever.
