Women in Green reviewing drive
[edit]
Hello Caeciliusinhorto:
This month, February 2026, WikiProject Women in Green is participating in the February 2026 GAN Backlog Drive, in which we're aiming to review as many outstanding Good Article (GA) nominations about women and women's works as possible. If you want to help out, you can check out the project talk page for a list of nominations in need of review (including some WiG originals). If you haven't reviewed a GA nomination before, be sure to check out the reviewing instructions and guidelines and feel free to ask for a mentor to check your work.
We are also working together with a wikithon hosted on 5 February by Wikimedia UK, which will focus on writing and improving articles about women involved in sustainable development. If you want to join the event, feel free to sign up at the eventbrite page; or if you would be interested in providing a 20-minute assessment and/or a full GA review of the submitted articles in the weeks following, put your name down on the project talk page for updates as the event progresses.
We hope to see you there!

Classical article up at FAC
[edit]I've got Golden Bough (Aeneid) up at FAC at the moment -- not sure if Virgil is your cup of tea, but if he is (or if you can bring yourself to stomach him), I'd be grateful for any thoughts you may have. UndercoverClassicist T·C 22:42, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
- @UndercoverClassicist: Virgil isn't really my area, but Aeneid VI was one of my GCSE Latin set texts, so if I have a minute I'll have a look Caeciliusinhorto-public (talk) 10:51, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- Appreciated -- thank you (it was mine too, though sans Golden Bough!) UndercoverClassicist T·C 13:49, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
Dewi Evans
[edit]Regarding your edit, yes its undue but that is actually the point. Dr Evans was tangentially involved in the case, the original article deliberately misconstrued his role in the case, due to the letter, and as a result of the letter it became a conspiracy theory widespread enough that mainstream journalists challenged dr Evans about it in interviews; hence it became a controversy. Jonathan Peter (talk) 19:43, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Jonathan Peter: If mainstream journalists have actually reported on this, that's one thing; the cited sources in the text I removed did not demonstrate this however, and other than the Nation.Cymru article I can find literally nothing in reliable media sources about this. Maybe the Nation.Cymru article would be enough to justify a brief mention of the case in the section on Evans' involvement with the Lucy Letby trial, as to the extent that Evans' connection with the Robbie Powell case is relevant, it's because people have attempted to use it to discredit his reliability as a witness in the Letby case. Even there we are relying on one relatively obscure media source however; for such a contentious topic about a living person really we want much better sourcing than that. The Core Contest returns
[edit]The Core Contest—Wikipedia's most exciting contest—returns again this year from April 15 to May 31. The goal: to improve vital or other core articles, with a focus on those in the worst state of disrepair. Editing can be done individually, but in the past groups have also successfully competed. There is £300 of prize money divided among editors who provide the "best additive encyclopedic value". Signups are open now. Cheers from the judges, Femke, Casliber, Aza24.
If you wish to start or stop receiving news about The Core Contest, please add or remove yourself from the delivery list.
