𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝟮 𝗼𝗳 𝟱: 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗨𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 In this video, Henri de Chassey explains that every day a train sits idle is a cost. And when a critical part is missing because a supplier disappeared, a mold no longer exists, or the supply chain breaks, the clock doesn’t stop. It accelerates. That’s where additive manufacturing proves its value. • Producing parts faster, when time matters most • Eliminating dependency on legacy tooling and obsolete supply chains • Consolidating complex assemblies into higher-performing components • Delivering exactly what’s needed, when it’s needed This isn’t just innovation. It’s operational impact. Because in rail, uptime isn’t a metric, it’s the business. At Nikon SLM Solutions, we’re proud to support customers like Wabtec Corporation as they push the limits of what’s possible with metal AM. A special thank you to ALICIA R., Vincent M., Jean-Christophe VIDIL, and Julien Frugier for their commitment to metal AM and their passion for driving customer success. #AdditiveManufacturing #MetalAM #Rail #SupplyChain #Uptime #AdvancedManufacturing

𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝟭 𝗼𝗳 𝟱: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 At Wabtec Corporation, the challenge isn’t just building the next generation of trains. It’s extending the life of the ones already in operation. As Henri de Chassey explains, with train lifecycles stretching 40–50 years and now being pushed even further, the pressure is on to deliver: • Spare parts on demand • Higher-performing components • Lightweight, optimized designs • And greater flexibility with no minimum order constraints At the same time, expectations for new platforms continue to rise. This is where metal additive manufacturing changes the equation. Not just enabling better parts—but unlocking new ways to support aging fleets while advancing next-generation performance. At Nikon SLM Solutions, we see this shift every day. From lifecycle extension to part consolidation, AM is becoming a critical lever for the rail industry. #AdditiveManufacturing #MetalAM #Rail #LifecycleManagement #SupplyChain #AdvancedManufacturing

CuNi30 is built for the harshest environments. We’ve optimized it for large-scale production. Not all materials are built for the ocean. Some are engineered to thrive in it. On the NXG XII 600 and NXG 600E, we developed robust CuNi30 (PRIM) process parameters specifically for offshore, defense, and energy applications. Testing was conducted to ensure stability across the full 600mm build height, enabling reliable performance in demanding conditions. The result: productivity comparable to nickel alloys, high-density builds, and low surface roughness achieved through multi-laser processing. With ~30% nickel, CuNi30 delivers excellent corrosion resistance in seawater, strong mechanical performance, and long-term stability under pressure and temperature. This is additive manufacturing built for performance at sea and beyond. At the invitation of German Federal Ministry of Defence | Bundesministerium der Verteidigung and Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, our team joined representatives from the defense industry to discuss scaling up defense production in Germany. Germany is a leader in additive manufacturing, and Nikon SLM Solutions is at the center of that. We are supporting the defense industry and the Bundeswehr in scaling up metal 3D printing production across Germany, the U.S., and other NATO countries. #AdditiveManufacturing #DefenseIndustry #3DPrinting #DefenseManufacturing
At the personal invitation of Federal Minister of Defense Pistorius (German Federal Ministry of Defence - Bundesministerium der Verteidigung) and Federal Minister of Economics Reiche (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie), I was invited to Berlin today as a representative of Nikon SLM Solutions, along with other representatives from the defense industry. The goal was to discuss the necessary steps for rapidly and effectively scaling up defense production in Germany. Germany is a leader in additive manufacturing (“3D printing”), and Nikon SLM Solutions, as the primary provider, will equip both the defense industry and the Bundeswehr Wir. Dienen. Deutschland. with high-productivity metal printers and support them in scaling up production. In my view, what’s important after such an event: dialogue with representatives from industry and politics is important, but actions are even more important than words. That’s why we must take action—and we are doing so, not only in Germany, but also in the U.S. and other NATO countries. Time to act is now!

Tool steel productivity is often limited by crack sensitivity. This update changes the equation. H13 tool steel has been redeveloped with a 60 µm PRIM parameter on the SLM®280, increasing productivity while maintaining excellent part quality. Through optimized powder and process parameters, crack-free parts are achieved up to defined wall thicknesses, even in complex geometries. Qualification was completed in both argon and nitrogen, giving customers flexibility in their preferred process environment. A comprehensive validation dataset was generated across the full build height of the SLM®280, providing confidence for industrial tooling applications. This is a practical step toward more efficient and reliable tool steel production. #ToolSteel #H13 #SLM280 #MetalAM #AdditiveManufacturing

One of the key productivity features of the SLM®500 is the removable build cylinder. When designing the system, we looked at the entire process holistically. A major cost driver in metal AM is idle time after a build, while the cylinder cools down and depowdering takes place inside the machine. With the removable build cylinder, the completed job can be pushed out of the system immediately and transferred to the PRS for cooling and powder removal. A new build cylinder can then be inserted, allowing the next job to start quickly. This approach reduces the time between jobs to less than one hour, helping operators keep production moving. It’s one of the many features that makes the SLM®500 a versatile platform for industrial metal additive manufacturing. #SLM500 #MetalAM #AdditiveManufacturing #IndustrialAM #Manufacturing
