In partnership with Weixin Pay, the Korea Tourism Organization is launching a special campaign running from April to December 2025, offering travel vouchers to tourists from the Chinese Mainland. Each month, surprise vouchers can be won for use on shopping, dining, and transport—and by year-end, a few lucky tourists could walk away with up to RMB 8,888. By fostering a more traveller-friendly payment environment, the initiative supports the organization’s goal of attracting more tourists from the Chinese Mainland, and thus helping local businesses tap into the growing wave of tourism demand. Beyond payments, the wider Weixin ecosystem—including Mini Programs—also plays a key role in making travel across South Korea easier. From booking train tickets to navigating food, shopping, and transportation options, Chinese Mainland tourists can enjoy a connected, all-in-one journey through tools they already use and trust. 🚖 Taxis are an essential part of life in Hong Kong, and now they’re embracing the digital age with Weixin/WeChat! Gone are the days of fumbling for change—many taxi rides now end with a simple scan. Since the launch of the "Checkout QR Code" for both Weixin Pay and WeChat Pay HK in late 2023, thousands of drivers have adopted this new payment method. Weixin Pay is also collaborating with major payment networks like Octopus Holdings Limited to enhance Hong Kong's payment landscape. As of January 2025, the monthly number of offline transactions through Weixin Pay and WeChat Pay HK in Hong Kong's taxi industry has seen a nearly 400% year-on-year increase, while the number of monthly active merchants has surged by over four times compared to the previous year. 🚇New partnership: in a first, Weixin Pay is now working with Busan Transportation Corporation to make metro rides in Busan simpler for Chinese Mainland visitors. Through the "Triplabo Travel to Korea" Mini Program, visitors can now purchase single-journey, 1-day, and 3-day metro passes — covering all 114 stations across Busan Metro Lines 1 to 4. This is one step in a much broader story.
