Strong partnership, clear direction and great momentum, that is how I would summarize our exchange. For us is the positioning of VCF as an integrated Private Cloud Operating Model the key. The focus on full SDDC integration with compute, storage, networking and management creates the architectural foundation customers actually need for modernization and Zero Trust ready environments. Furthermore the technical enablement initiatives for Sales & Pre-Sales are especially important to turn strategy into execution. On my personal note, it was a pleasure having such intensive discussions with Dominik Blochberger, Frederic Bleses, Maria Simon, Laxmen Sreetharan, Artem Babikov and Karl Schäckermann as well as great exchange with Mario Schuld and David A. during dinner and throughout the meetings. 🚨 Zero Trust is no longer optional. For Hamburger Pensionsverwaltung eG (HAPEV) managing over 1 million pension accounts, trust isn’t just a value, it’s the business. OpenAI & SAP announce a first-of-it's-kind deal with the German government for a fully "Sovereign AI" infrastructure rollout, running on Microsoft Azure and SAP’s Delos Cloud GmbH. While the US has all the ingredients for its own AI sovereignty (I expect they'd choose a different term), this deal is still groundbreaking as it paves the way for others to follow, especially in Europe which has it's own unique challenges to address. Roll-out of AI, especially across the public sector in major European countries, has been somewhat limited to date with very real concerns over exporting so much sensitive data to the US and not having the control to ensure compliance with the EU's AI Act. With full AI Sovereignty, European companies and public sector will be able to accelerate adoption fast and start to reap the benefits without clashing with their risk exposure that is limiting them so much right now. I expect to see others follow suit here: 🇬🇧 In July, the UK announced it's own "Sovereign AI Unit" 🇫🇷 France recently emphasised "digital sovereignty" as part of it's "AI for Humanity" plans Something to watch!

Germany’s “Deutschland-Stack” consultation is welcome, but the real test is whether the state will contribute to open standards and open source, not just curate them. - Contribution over consumption. If the stack leans on Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, and SCS profiles, government should fund maintainers, upstream code, and publish reusable modules under OSI licences—an “upstream-first” rule for public software. (SCS positions itself explicitly as standards + software.)  - Standards with teeth. Anchor profiles in European bodies (DIN/DKE, CEN/CENELEC, ETSI) to avoid a German fork of reality. Measure success by adoption beyond Germany, not by PDF volume. - Open process, not just open docs. The BMDS move to run an open consultation, publish feedback on openCode, and iterate the stack through 2028 is a good start, but the scoreboard is merged PRs and normative profiles. If you depend on the Deutschland-Stack, submit feedback and budget time to contribute upstream.
