What do you do when Kubernetes Cluster Autoscaler supports the scaling logic you need, but not your cloud provider? In his follow-up to last week's Cloud Native Computing Switzerland Meetup, Marco De Luca walks through how to teach Cluster Autoscaler to speak cloudscale.ch - without forking it or waiting for an upstream provider. The answer: externalgrpc. Cluster Autoscaler stays the brain (scheduling simulation, node group selection, scale-down logic). A separate gRPC service becomes the hands (creating VMs, tagging, deleting, mapping nodes back to cloud resources).
