The first digital project can change everything. What starts as one concrete industrial challenge often leads Swiss SMEs to rethink much more than a single process. A recurring defect that could have been detected earlier. A process that still depends too much on operator experience. Industrial data that exists, but is barely being used. That is often how Digitalization begins. Not with a massive transformation strategy, but with one practical problem worth solving. And once companies see the value of digital innovation, the questions quickly evolve: What else could be predicted, automated, optimized, or measured in real time? In this video, Pierre-Jean Alet, Group Leader of Sustainable Energy, CSEM, explains why one successful project is often enough to open the door to broader transformation. The CSEM 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 helps Swiss SMEs take that first step. ⚡ What does the future of brain-machine interfaces look like? According to Xi Chen, it starts with rethinking how chips “listen” to the brain. Through his joint CSEMETH Zürich doctoral work within SwissChips, Xi is developing new neural recording chip architectures that could help future systems interpret tiny brain signals more efficiently, opening the door to technologies supporting speech restoration, advanced prosthetics, and next-generation biomedical devices. In the latest SwissChips spotlight interview, Xi shares how his work tackles one of the field’s key challenges: scaling high-performance neural sensing systems without dramatically increasing chip size or power consumption. 👉 Full interview here: https://lnkd.in/e3mZjeDY And beyond the technology, we also loved Xi’s take on chip engineering itself: ☕💡 “𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤. For the 15th consecutive year, Switzerland ranked #1 in the Global Innovation Index, as published by World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO. At a time when global R&D investment and venture capital are under pressure, this raises an important question: 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙜𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚❓ 🔬 In the Swiss Biotech Report 2026 by the Swiss Biotech Association, Samantha Paoletti and Gilles Weder — who lead Research & Business Development activities in Life Science Technologies at CSEM explore the role of global talent, collaboration, and translational innovation in strengthening Switzerland’s TechBio ecosystem. 👉 Read the article: https://lnkd.in/e6v69smA One striking figure highlighted in the report: 🦄 foreign nationals account for 78% of unicorn founders in Switzerland (founders of startups valued at over $1 billion). It is a strong reminder that long-term innovation leadership depends not only on scientific excellence, but also on openness to global talent, diversity of perspectives, and the ability to connect disciplines. At CSEM, we see this dynamic every day. TechBio and bioconvergence are accelerating the integration of engineering, biology, and data science to translate scientific advances into scalable, real-world solutions, from next-generation diagnostics to new drug screening platforms. 🌍 Sustaining innovation leadership requires more than breakthrough research. It depends on ecosystems that foster collaboration across disciplines, institutions, and borders. 👉 Download the full report: https://lnkd.in/gfkz7FH Image: © Swiss Biotech Association - Source: Avenir Suisse #SwissInnovation #TechBio #DeepTech #Bioconvergence #SwissBiotech
