Our fleet just leveled up! The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded Daedalean a Supplemental Type Certificate, moving our US-based Cessna 182 Skylane from experimental status to a standard airworthiness certificate. This dramatically expands our operational scope. We can now: •Fly unrestricted across the United States. •Collect the diverse data needed to cover all 84 American ecoregions—critical for our ambitious plan to train our AI algorithms to detect non-cooperative traffic against varied terrain anywhere in the world. •Bring early adopters on board to experience the system’s revolutionary capabilities in real-world conditions. Securing the STC, which is for the installation of our Visual Capture Unit system provision on the Cessna 182, was no small feat. The whole certification effort required months of meticulous work by our flight operations team. A huge thanks to Sandro Guidetti, Ad Eberhard, Domenico Vinci, and everyone whose tireless efforts made the STC possible. Alongside our Europe-based Piper Arrow IV and Robinson R44 II, the C182 rounds out a versatile three-aircraft fleet driving development, testing, and demonstration so we can continue to push innovation forward. #AviationSafety #ArtificialIntelligence

Approaching a decade in operations, Daedalean has been the undisputed leader in certifiable AI in aerospace. Now, we are excited to announce that the market has recognized the company’s value. Destinus, a European developer of flight systems for civil and defense applications, has signed a binding agreement to acquire Daedalean as a means to “broaden artificial intelligence solutions for unmanned flight systems.” We are looking forward to working as a part of Destinus to continue to advance the safe and effective use of AI in aerospace. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2025. Please see the attached press release.

#AI Myths, Grounded. Aerospace America recaps a powerful conversation from last week’s AIAA Aviation Forum in Las Vegas, where industry experts made it clear: AI and autonomy are not the same thing. All AI is not non-deterministic. AI systems are safe. We're proud to contribute to the critical discussion shaping the future of aerospace. Stay tuned as we continue the dialogue later this month—Yemaya Bordain will moderate another expert panel at the MOSA Summit & Expo near Washington, DC. 🚫 Artificial Intelligence Myths Debunked at 2025 #AIAAAviation: AI and autonomy are the same thing AI systems are inherently unsafe Real-time AI monitoring tools don’t exist Regulators won’t approve AI for aircraft A powerhouse panel from NASA, Collins Aerospace, Joby, Merlin, and Daedalean tackled some of the biggest misconceptions about AI in aviation and set the record straight. ✅ Reality: With clear requirements, robust validation data, and strong human-system design, AI-powered systems can meet safety standards and play a critical role in aviation’s future. The panel emphasized that safety isn’t about eliminating AI — it’s about applying it responsibly. 🔗 Read the full story in From the Institute in Aerospace America today: https://bit.ly/44Zrq0I #AIAA #AI

More than 10,000 aircraft descended upon EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh this year. And we set up our AI-enhanced visual detection system on the ground to detect them. Here are a few clips, sped up by 500%, showing remarkable, if predictable, performance: •Aircraft that the system had never seen were detected. •The system had no problem ignoring cars and people on the ground. •Birds passing through the field of view were tracked, just as the system was designed to do. To explain it all, Daedalean's Head of Data, Ad Eberhard, took to the Oshkosh stage for a talk (https://lnkd.in/dZ54HYdS) detailing the rigorous collection, analysis, and management of visual data that feeds the AI-enhanced system. He also revealed why Daedalean has commenced a flight campaign to record footage from all 84 American and 44 European ecoregions on its way to gathering similar data from around the world. And why flight safety will improve because of it. Thank you to the heroic AirVenture organizers for yet another magnificent event. Looking forward to next year already! #ArtificialIntelligence #AviationSafety

Myth busting was in full effect at AIAA Aviation today in Las Vegas. Daedalean's Yemaya Bordain moderated a panel that addressed several persistent misunderstandings surrounding #AI assurance and how a system with an AI-enhanced component can be certified in aviation. Audience members were given the chance to upvote among ten leading myths, making this an interactive session responding in real time to attendees' concerns and curiosity. Thank you to Darren Cofer (Collins Aerospace), Kim Wasson (Joby Aviation), Natasha Neogi (NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration), and Robert (Bob) Voros (Merlin) for their thoughtful insight. Thanks as well to Jim Sherman and Monique Alabi of AIAA for running a tight ship and an engaging conference. Stay tuned to see the full session, which will be available from AIAA soon! What are your thoughts on AI assurance and the certification of AI-enhanced systems? #ArtificialIntelligence #Aerospace #AviationSafety

A treasure trove of aircraft to detect at #Oshkosh! A team from Daedalean set up the Visual Detection System to record the myriad aircraft types flying in to the EAA AirVenture 2025. This formation of L-39 Albatrosses adds to Daedalean's ever growing dataset of aircraft. Data is central to the effectiveness of #AI. Tomorrow, Daedalean's Head of Data, Ad Eberhard (with his newly minted PPL(H) license!) will explain why when he delves into the data collection and annotation process in a talk entitled "Training AI to see like a Pilot." Tuesday, July 22, at 4:00 PM Forum Stage 1 Hope to see you there!
