Our 2026 SkillXchange cohort for entrepreneurial thinkers showcased their business ideas on April 10. From food ventures to platforms that help students build friendships and find jobs, to technologies designed to predict and prevent accidents, and products that foster creativity and emotional self-awareness—these students demonstrated impressive innovation in their entrepreneurial pursuits. Congratulations to all! Read short descriptions of their projects below: Belican Alpaydın: Belio → A verified student networking platform that helps university students see shared classes, coordinate schedules, and collaborate with classmates in one trusted space. Damarra Vogt: Assembled Healing → We design guided creative experiences that help children build confidence through art by focusing on curiosity, experimentation, and process rather than technical skill. Peter Broomfield: Trading Journal → A behavioral journaling web app that helps retail discretionary day traders intervene on costly emotional patterns before a trade. Pierre Foret: Empanadas del Mundo → A Montreal-based food venture bringing globally inspired empanadas to local markets and beyond. Tom Landrey: The Career Platform Built for Canada → We help Canadian universities give their students a better shot at landing jobs by replacing overworked career centres with a simple platform that connects students and employers in one place as seamlessly as possible. Tommy Cao: WakeGuard → Alert Driving AI to prevent drowsiness-caused accidents. Yasmeen wu: ReflexaTech – Haptic Safety Glasses → Glasses with real-time haptic alerts that shorten reaction time and help older adults avoid sudden obstacles and falls. Yiorgio Mathioudakis: Wintertime Beehive Monitoring Platform (WBMP) → The WBMP is an IoT device whose purpose is to gather data on the hive’s status throughout winter. The platform’s data pipeline will empower beekeepers with awareness and time-to-act, giving them a chance to intervene and save their hives by eliminating hive-status guesswork should the hive enter a state of starvation risk. We were thrilled to have Jennifer Torres and Steven Furtado, CIM®, RWM™, FDFS™, MFA-P ™ from Savoir Wealth back. Their workshop on how to optimize your tax file was engaging, practical and well delivered. Our students walked away with a stronger understanding of not just filing taxes, but how to optimize them as part of their broader financial picture. You made a complex topic accessible, relevant, actionable and positive. Looking forward to continuing this collaboration!
Grateful to FutureBound Concordia for the invitation to return for a second year as part of their financial literacy series. Savoir Wealth Co-Founders Steven Furtado, CIM®, RWM™, FDFS™, MFA-P ™ and Jennifer Torres had the pleasure of delivering a timely hybrid “Tax Talk” to the bright minds of tomorrow on campus at Concordia University Conversations like these matter, because financial literacy isn’t just knowledge, it’s a foundation for better decisions. Special s/o to Andrea Taylor & team #financialliteracy #wealthmanagement #education

Huge congratulations to our 2026 SkillXchange cohort for impactful speakers! Take a look at the photos captured by Alessia B. at their showcase event on April 10. Each participant shared powerful, engaging stories inspired by their lived experience – stories of courage, resilience, wisdom and compassion, all delivered with a touch of humor. Read short descriptions of the talks below: Abir Rhaouti: Emotional intelligence: The emotions we never learned to name → The greatest barrier in our relationships isn’t communication itself, but the emotions we struggle to name and navigate. Emotional intelligence is what turns disconnection into understanding. Alexia Hacikyan: Your vision board is wrong → A reflection on how we chase what’s next, and how that might be costing us the present. Amandeep Kaur: What does it mean to have a home → There’s a saying in Punjabi that says “Kudi da koi ghar ni hunda.” (A woman doesn’t really have a home). Juliette Thomas: Becoming rejection-proof → Rejection and how it actually helps us grow, even if it feels uncomfortable. Karolina Dobiszewska: If not through the door, then through the window → A journey through resilience, fearlessness and the courage to create your own opportunities. Margot Servignat: Sales and impostor syndrome → Human-centric approach in a technology-driven world: How learning to sell efficiently helps in everyday life. Miranda Noelia Bellido Rosas: Take the leap: How stepping outside your comfort zone unlocks opportunity → Growth begins where certainty ends. Choose courage over comfort. Nicolas Garcia Cerda: The Hidden Cost of Opportunities → Opportunities are a great thing. We are encouraged to take them and focus on the end result. But there is something else unspoken about them... I wonder what it is. Walid Berrahma: Emotions through video games → To show emotions through a different lens.
