Julie Robinson posted thisA question came up recently: Who sets the salary? The candidate? The client? Or the market? In reality, the best outcomes tend to come when all three are aligned. When: candidates understand their value clients understand the market and both meet somewhere realistic That’s when processes move well. The market does shift. Expectations do change. But strong conversations - early and open - tend to bring everything closer together. And that’s usually where the best decisions are made.

Julie Robinson posted thisI’ve decided to start documenting my journey with AI in recruitment. Not because I’ve mastered it. Because I haven’t. Right now, I'm at an early stage. I see the hype. I see people using it in different ways. I see the potential. So instead of overthinking it… I’m just going to start. Invest time to review as much as I can. Test things. Share what works. Share what doesn’t. Let’s see where this goes - I'm hopeful it might help some folks.

Julie Robinson posted thisMmm... a message on how not to get new customers. Julie, Honest note - I’m archiving your file. Most companies in your spot keep saying they’ll “get to it later”… then watch 2026 slip away while their competitors who started the appointment flow months ago are already banking the revenue. You already know about the tailored project for early starters. If you feel things need to change, simply reply to this email. It’s the last open door from us. Your move. Cheers,

Julie Robinson posted thisI signed up for a tech demo last week. Completed the questionnaire, it was extensive but all pretty standard Within 24 hours, I got a LinkedIn message from the co-founder. My first reaction? This is part of an automated sequence. I actually loved the message, So I asked him how they built it , (honestly it was a test to see what happened next.) Everything about it felt intentional. The timing The context The tone And that’s when he said: “It wasn’t automated - I wrote that.” That caught me off guard. What? there are humans still out there sending messages themselves? Because I’ve reached a point where when I am a prospect, a communication like this I assumed was automated. What stood out to me was; • Timing — it showed up exactly when it should have, not too fast, not too slow • Context — it was clearly based on my prior interaction without missing a beat • Tone — natural, not over-engineered • Intent — clear, but not forced For those of us that are taking the time to make communication personal, it does resonate and it much more likely to get a response.

Julie Robinson liked thisJulie Robinson liked thisAfter just over five years with Forge Recruitment, this week will be my last with the firm, with Friday marking my final day as Managing Director. What we built together over the past several years is something I will always be proud of. When I look back, it is not only the growth of the business that stands out to me, but the growth of the people. Watching consultants evolve into leaders, seeing confidence develop through hard work, and building a team that genuinely cared about clients, candidates, and one another has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career to date. The recruitment industry is demanding; yet this team consistently showed resilience, professionalism, and an ability to adapt in environments that often required both urgency and empathy at the same time. To every person I had the opportunity to work alongside at Forge, thank you. Thank you for the trust, the support, the collaboration, and the countless conversations, challenges, wins, and lessons over the years. I am also incredibly grateful to the clients, candidates, and partners who placed their trust in me and in our team throughout this journey. Relationships have always been at the center of this business, and I do not take any of them for granted. While this chapter is coming to a close, I am very excited for what comes next. I will continue operating within the search and professional services space, while also dedicating more time toward talent development, advisory work, and several entrepreneurial ventures that I have been building behind the scenes. There is a great deal ahead. Stay tuned.

Did you know that starting July 1, 2025, Ontario employers must give every new hire written job details before day one? This new ESA rule requires employers with 25+ employees to share key information in writing ; including pay, hours, contact details, and workplace location. It’s all about clarity from the start. Good onboarding = good compliance. Watch my new video in the Employment Law Made Easy series to learn how this affects both employees and HR teams. #EmploymentLawMadeEasy #OntarioESA #EmploymentLaw #HRinCanada #EmployeeRights #HRCompliance #ESAChanges #Onboarding #HRUpdates #OntarioJobs

By 2030, nearly all boomers will have exited the workforce... Recruitment and staffing firms are positioned to play a critical role as Canada heads into a period of demographic strain. By connecting businesses with qualified workers, managing fluctuating hiring needs, and ensuring continuity across sectors, these firms act as a buffer against labour shortages that would otherwise stall growth. For trade-exposed industries such as manufacturing, transportation, and resource extraction—where competitiveness depends on stable costs and reliable output—partnering with recruitment experts can help companies remain agile and avoid disruptions as workforce pressures intensify. RBC highlights why this support is becoming increasingly vital: despite a recent rise in unemployment, Canada is approaching a major structural shift as the final and largest wave of baby boomers reaches retirement age. By 2030, nearly all boomers will have exited the workforce, leading to a drop of more than two percentage points in labour force participation in just six years. That decline will squeeze industries already competing in global markets, while sectors like health care and social services face surging domestic demand. RBC calls for policy responses around training, credential recognition, and productivity improvements, but in the near term, recruitment firms remain one of the most effective tools for helping employers adapt to a shrinking and aging labour pool. #techrecruitment #executiverecruitment #tpicompanies

I’ve lived this. Before starting Everyday People Inc., I supported delivery recruitment internally, and I saw how easily growth can stall. New client wins. Big momentum. But not enough recruiting power to deliver. Hire too fast? Margins suffer. Hire too slow? Reputation suffers. That balancing act is brutal. That’s why we built EPI with this in mind to give staffing firms flexible recruiting capacity so growth doesn’t break the delivery engine. If you’re scaling and feeling the strain, I get it. Let’s talk.

🔹 A question I am asked frequently by my clients: "How do I attract & retain A-Level Talent without paying top dollar?" Let’s be real—not every company can outspend competitors in the talent war. But here’s the truth: A-level employees don’t just stay for the paycheck. They stay for the experience and that’s where culture becomes your competitive edge. 🔹 When hiring, your offer becomes far more attractive if candidates can clearly see: ➡️ Growth Pathways : Show them how they can progress. Share real success stories of team members who’ve advanced, and outline your training or mentorship programs. ➡️ Flexibility & Balance : Hybrid schedules, flexible hours, and results-driven (not seat-driven) cultures go a long way. Remember: Top performers love working with other top performers. ➡️ Recognition, Autonomy & Rewards: Even without the highest salary, you can reward impact through bonuses, priority projects, and fast-tracked advancement. ➡️ Impact & Purpose: Connect the role directly to your company’s mission and into THEIR personal, professional and financial goals. Show them how their work moves the needle. ➡️ Strong Leadership: People join companies but leave managers. Highlight your culture of respect, trust, and open communication. ➡️ Culture Beyond Buzzwords: Share what it’s really like to work with you: collaboration, cross-departmental support, employee-driven ideas, and genuine celebrations of wins. If you can’t offer the top salary, offer what matters most to the person you want to hire. Show them how they will thrive with you. Curious.. what is the #1 non-salary factor that made YOU stay (or leave) with a company? www.accu-staff.ca kellyn@accu-staff.com
