In response to the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during the pandemic, I co-created AccordExpress, a specialized financing solution designed to provide Canadian SMEs with swift access to capital. Recognizing that many businesses were closed and lacked large back-office teams, AccordExpress was specifically developed to cater to small and micro businesses that didn’t have the resources to create traditional financing requests, such as proformas and complex business…
In response to the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during the pandemic, I co-created AccordExpress, a specialized financing solution designed to provide Canadian SMEs with swift access to capital. Recognizing that many businesses were closed and lacked large back-office teams, AccordExpress was specifically developed to cater to small and micro businesses that didn’t have the resources to create traditional financing requests, such as proformas and complex business plans.
To address this, we implemented a rapid score-only program that mitigated risk while offering quick access to funding. Through this unique approach, we deployed over $300 million in emergency relief loans to these businesses. Tens of thousands of clients applied, and thanks to our innovative underwriting process, we were able to adjudicate every application received within just 3 business days. AccordExpress helped keep these businesses operational, maintain staff, and navigate the economic disruption caused by the pandemic.
