Fireside chat recap from Callie Lissinna: Wildfire preparedness starts with understanding what’s on the ground before a fire starts. And hyperspectral imagery can be an invaluable tool for forestry and fire management teams. Wyvern’s imagery enables high-resolution mapping that identifies vegetation type, density, and fuel loads across large areas. With a clear understanding of forest ecosystems and continuous monitoring of subtle changes, teams can better identify risk and act early. Better data means better decisions. We were invited to discuss the role of technology in wildfire mitigation in a recent panel marking the 10-year anniversary of the Fort McMurray fires. We kept returning to the same question: how do we turn the last decade of technological progress into real-world preparedness? The tools available today are far more advanced than they were in 2016, but no single tool or organization can realistically address the complex challenge of preventing wildfires. The answer is bringing together emerging innovations to build a complete solution. For example, combining Wyvern’s satellite data with AirMarket’s drone technology. And empowering experienced teams with Firesafe AI’s detection and analytics tools. As one panelist put it: wildfire is everyone’s problem and nobody’s problem. If organizations and individuals with an appetite for problem solving make it our collective problem, we can reduce wildfire risk for communities and ecosystems around the world. Thank you again for the conversation Firesafe Analytics, AIRmarket Inc., ELIXR Simulations, and Edmonton Unlimited.

Biodiversity underpins everything from food systems to ecosystem resilience, but it’s declining at an alarming rate. And studies identify agriculture, biological resource use, and invasive species as the top threats. There’s good news, too. By providing a highly accurate way to measure and monitor ecosystems, on-orbit hyperspectral imaging offers a real solution to biodiversity loss in critical industries like agriculture and forestry. Hyperspectral imaging reveals detailed material-level information about plants and trees, and allows for non-invasive monitoring of vast areas of land. This makes it possible to detect threats early, act with more precision, and take a proactive approach to protecting biodiversity. Teams using hyperspectral imagery can: 🌱 Detect stress, disease, and ecosystem degradation earlier 🌲 Map species and crops more accurately 🌍 Better identify invasive vegetation and land disturbance 🛰️ Monitors areas at scale International Biodiversity Day is all about taking action to safeguard the variety of life on earth. Learn how hyperspectral imaging can help you manage your environment more sustainably. Book a call with our team today 🗓️ https://lnkd.in/e-eN2Nyn #InternationalBiodiversityDay

Hyperspectral data is a powerful tool— and making it freely accessible for exploration and experimentation has been our goal from the start. That’s why we created our Open Data Program. 🛰️ What’s available • 100+ free, high-resolution images from our constellation • VNIR spectral data with rich band detail for analysis • Global coverage across real-world environmental and operational scenarios 🔓 How to access • Through Wyvern’s Open Data portal • Free and unrestricted use under a Creative Commons license (with attribution) • No complex procurement or licensing barriers • Data can be downloaded and integrated directly into your workflows 🧪 How you can use it • Test and validate your existing models and analytics • Compare hyperspectral vs. multispectral performance • Build and train classification, detection, or change analysis workflows 🌍 Why we believe in open data • It accelerates adoption and understanding of hyperspectral data • It fosters innovation within Earth observation • It empowers more people to solve urgent ecological and environmental issues What would you do with free, high-resolution hyperspectral imagery? Canadian Made 🇨🇦 Thank you for the spotlight Prairies Economic Development Canada I Développement économique Canada pour les Prairies! There is nothing better than building in Alberta to support Canadian defence. If you want to learn more about our collaboration with Prairies Economic Development Canada I Développement économique Canada pour les Prairies, you can read our recent post here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ed68_yhQ What's inside: Discover how maritime domain awareness works today, where existing approaches fall short, and how hyperspectral imaging can provide a critical missing piece in our defence ecosystem.
We’re kicking off #CanadianInnovationWeek by spotlighting an Edmonton company turning space-based data into real-world impact. Wyvern is advancing satellite technology that helps organizations make faster, smarter, and more sustainable decisions—from agriculture to defence. 🛰️ Built in Edmonton and designed for Canada’s national security supply chain and beyond, Wyvern is a strong example of how Prairie innovation drives impact at home and globally. With PrairiesCan support, Wyvern is enhancing its ship identification and maritime monitoring capabilities, strengthening Canada sovereignty while accelerating the delivery of critical data. Earlier investments also supported the development of a lower-cost hyperspectral imaging network. What makes this work stand out is its reach. The same dual-use technology supporting maritime surveillance is helping farmers optimize inputs, foresters manage wildfire risk, and organizations better protect ecosystems. #PrairiesCanFunded #CdnInnovation #CIW26 📸: Wyvern Inc
