That’s a wrap on #CANSEC2026. The pace and conversations this year carried a noticeably different tone – greater urgency, renewed industrial confidence, and a sharper focus on sovereign capability. Prime Minister Mark Carney's remarks captured that shift directly. Canada is “building again” – investing at scale in defence, accelerating procurement, strengthening Arctic and NORAD capability, and placing far greater emphasis on Canadian industry, innovation and supply chains. For us, that’s refleted in our production of #MadeInCanada solutions across RPAS, C5ISR and ASW. Industry is taking a more integrated role in Canada’s security architecture, and that recalibration is becoming more evident across the sector. Thanks to everyone who made time to connect with the team over the last two days – those conversations are exactly where progress starts.

Day one at #CANSEC2026 came in fast – lots of conversations across the entire spectrum of defence, and plenty of ideas moving off the page into something more tangible. This has been one of the busiest CANSEC's we’ve seen, with strong footfall across the show floor from the moment doors opened and a real buzz among both visitors and exhibitors throughout the day. We’ll be back at it tomorrow. Come by booth 1601 and connect with our team. Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI)

As a long-standing Canadian provider of Anti-Submarine Warfare, C5ISR, and RPAS capabilities, we were proud to participate in the Canadian Autonomy Trials Series – Maritime (CATS-M), a Defence Research and Development Canada | Recherche et développement pour la défense Canada-led experimentation activity focused on integrated autonomous maritime surveillance and system-of-systems operations. The trial highlighted the importance of interoperability, layered sensing, and coordinated experimentation across autonomous air, surface, and underwater domains in realistic maritime environments, while also advancing broader DRDC priorities including Distributed Anti-Submarine Warfare (D-ASW) and complementary DND initiatives focused on uncrewed ASW operational development and real-time acoustic data processing. We are proud to bring advanced defence technologies and specialist expertise to operational experimentation that is directly shaping Canada’s future maritime capability and strengthening readiness across allied forces. Our thanks to DRDC, Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland, The Launch, COVE, JASCO Applied Sciences and Open Ocean Robotics for the collaboration and professionalism throughout the event.
Strong partnerships are advancing Canada’s innovation ecosystem. COVE was proud to support the inaugural Canadian Autonomy Trials Series–Maritime (CATS-M) in Holyrood, NL, bringing together autonomous maritime platforms, acoustic sensors, and information systems to strengthen underwater domain awareness and autonomous surveillance capabilities. Delivered in collaboration with Defence Research and Development Canada | Recherche et développement pour la défense Canada, the trial integrated technologies from COVE ecosystem partners, including Open Ocean Robotics, JASCO Applied Sciences, and General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada. Hosted at The Launch, Marine Institute, a remote test centre operated by the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland, CATS-M demonstrates the value of collaborative testing and real-world validation in advancing Canadian innovation. We were proud to see Canadian Defence Review recognize Joel Houde, Vice President and General Manager, General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada as Defence Executive of the Year 2026. Announced earlier this year, this moment marks the formal presentation — and a chance to reflect on what the recognition represents. In his remarks, Joel grounded it in people, purpose and responsibility, pointing to the teams across engineering, delivery and support who carry the work forward every day. He spoke to an outcomes-driven mission: enabling forces to connect, decide and act with confidence, underpinned by speed, interoperability and sovereign capability. Congratulations, Joel Houde PMP, P.Eng. – and thank you to everyone who helps turn intent into impact. Read more about Joel’s recognition in the full article 🔗 Vol 32-Iss 1 (https://lnkd.in/eHJDnKbP)
