Day 1 of #CANSEC2026 is off to a strong start with a major announcement from the Government of Canada. This morning at CANSEC, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney presented a clear case for strengthening Canada’s defence industrial base — including updates to the ITB framework, incentivizing investment in strategic capabilities, and prioritizing building at home. The announcement that Canada will enter negotiations with Saab and Bombardier for the GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning aircraft is another strong signal of Canada’s commitment to sovereign capability, innovation, and long-term defence readiness.
