Take a first look at TransLink's SkyTrain testing on the Broadway Subway extension as trains begin moving along the new tracks near VCC-Clark Station. This marks a major milestone as the project moves into the testing and commissioning phase ahead of opening in fall 2027. Right now, crews are making sure everything works safely together. That means testing how trains move along the track, how signals and communications respond, and how multiple trains operate on the line. Once complete, the extension will provide faster, more reliable transit through one of Metro Vancouver’s busiest corridors, connecting people to jobs, schools, health care and services.

British Columbia is leading the country in economic growth and major resource projects, and the northwest is at the centre of that momentum. Led by the Nisg̱a’a Nation, the Ksi Lisims LNG project is one of the most significant opportunities in BC’s energy sector. The proposed liquified natural gas facility is designed to export natural gas using clean hydroelectric power to lower emissions. Now, Canada has reached a deal with Germany linked to the project, putting BC at the centre of a major international energy partnership. The project is a priority for both the BC and Canadian governments - and this agreement shows there’s real demand for what BC can offer, as countries like Germany look for reliable, long-term energy. For people in BC, it means more jobs, more investment, and new opportunities as our energy connects to markets around the world.

On June 1, 2026, BC's minimum wage will go up to $18.25 an hour. There are around 141,000 people earning minimum wage in BC and increases help workers keep up with the cost of everyday essentials. Since 2024, minimum wage increases have been automatically linked with inflation, based on the previous year’s rate. This approach provides regular, predictable increases, helping workers plan their finances while giving businesses time to prepare. Learn more: gov.bc.ca/MinimumWage

BC's Central Coast is an extraordinary place. Stretching across islands, fjords and open ocean, it supports everything from herring and salmon to whales and seabirds, and has sustained coastal First Nations for millennia. Now, a new National Marine Conservation Area Reserve will be established to protect this globally significant ecosystem, by prohibiting activities like oil and gas development, mining, dumping and bottom trawling. In partnership with the Wuikinuxv, Nuxalk, Kitasoo Xai'xais, Heiltsuk, Gitxaała, and Gitga’at Nations and the Government of Canada, we're working together to protect these waters for future generations, while supporting economic opportunities, community wellbeing and sustainable use today.

With strong protections for workers, communities, and the environment, BC is setting the standard for responsible mining. BC's mining sector supports more than 40,000 good-paying, family-supporting jobs. These careers are expected to be in demand as we continue seizing BC’s unique opportunity to deliver the critical minerals the world needs for green energy and new technology. This is all part of our Look West strategy to strengthen BC's workforce and deliver major projects faster. Find mining jobs at WorkBC.ca

BC is leading the way as asking rents continue to fall across Canada. With faster zoning processes, better incentives for builders, and more housing projects being built, renters are seeing a real difference. These steps are helping unlock more purpose‑built rental housing and ease a market that’s been tight for years. What we’re doing is working, and we’re committed to keeping that momentum going so more people across BC can find a home that works for them.

Women’s health is getting more attention and better support in BC. At a recent women’s health roundtable at the BC Legislature, obstetrician-gynecologist and author Dr. Jen Gunter shared her perspective after recently moving back here from the US. She spoke about the importance of protecting access to care and addressing misinformation, especially as women’s health faces growing challenges elsewhere. In BC, more women and gender-diverse people are getting the care they need through expanded services and broader coverage. BC is the first province in Canada to: • offer a self-screening option for cervical cancer • provide free prescription birth control The Province has also: • expanded pharmacists' scope of practice so they can prescribe contraception, reducing barriers for timely reproductive care • launched a publicly funded in-vitro fertilization program • expanded access to menopausal hormone therapy at no cost for hundreds of thousands of people in BC • and opened the Complex Menopause Clinic, the first of its kind in Western Canada at BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre This work supports choice, autonomy and better health outcomes across BC.
