bUm
Raum für
solidarisches Miteinander

Join us for an evening of animated shorts out of Palestine. In the first half of the evening, we will be screening a collection of animated shorts made by women and children in Haneen Koraz’s workshops. After a conversation with Haneen, the second half of the evening will showcase animated shorts by filmmakers from Palestine and in the diaspora.
This event is a fundraiser for Haneen Koraz's animation workshops across the Gaza strip. Haneen Koraz is a stop motion educator and trainer who is an internally displaced person lived at the refugee camp in Deir al-Balah. Haneen is an experienced stop motion filmmaker who has collaborated with various arts and culture associations working in Gaza (among them Theatre Day Productions; she is a recipient of Cooperation Award for Excellence in Cultural Sector 2022 of the Taawon Welfare Association). Her efforts especially focused on empowerment of women and young girls with hearing impairments. In the camp, Haneen and her team (Nour Jawad and Shorook Darwish) lead animation workshops for adults and children to help them cope with the horrors they have experienced.
This event has been supported through the warm comraderie of Haneen herself, and the wonderful people internationally coordinating the Animation Community for Palestine (@ac4pal), who remain in direct contact with the Haneen and her team in Gaza, and have strenuously collected and archived Palestinian animation filmographies.
This event is a satellite series with Palinale Festival in Berlin, a film and workshop festival founded in 2024 by activists and volunteers, dedicated to showcasing decolonial narratives and realities from the Global South. For more information on Palinale, please visit the instagram @palinale.festival.

At our Demo Day, the projects from Cohort 02 will present their findings and the process behind them through talks, panel discussions and live demos. During the six-month funding period, the developers have tackled a wide variety of technological and societal issues: from the causality of extreme events, through journalistic knowledge databasesand security tests for large language models, to digital terrain models in OpenStreetMap– there’s hardly anything they haven’t covered. Now it’s time to showcase and celebrate this work!
As always, alongside project presentations, a keynote speech and a supporting programme, there will be plenty of time to chat with grant recipients and the audience, as well as delicious catering!
The main part of the programme will be in German, though some talks will be in English. The hands-on demos will be bilingual.
The programme is currently being finalised and will be updated here on an ongoing basis. A (free) ticket is required to attend. We will be launching the ticket shop online in the coming weeks.

https://zeitzureden.org/upcoming-event/zeit-zu-reden-international-the-gaza-tribunal/Britain's Complacency in the Destruction of Gaza
In June 2025, the British politician and member of parliament Jeremy Corbyn, co-founder of Your Party and former leader of the Labor Party, proposed a bill for a full, independent, public inquiry into what he defined as Britain’s role in the genocide in Gaza. This would have the power to question ministers and officials involved in decision-making processes since October 2023. Although it secured the support of more than 50 MPs, the inquiry was blocked by the government, with the claim that „such an inquiry would be unnecessary, as there is no confusion about UK military operations in Gaza.“
Corbyn instead decided to hold his own tribunal. Held on 4–5 September 2025 at Church House, Westminster, The Gaza Tribunal is an inquiry into British complicity in the attack on Gaza. The tribunal heard from witnesses, journalists and survivors from Gaza, as well as a range of international law experts, lawyers and whistleblowers. It uncovered in devastating detail the near-total destruction of the healthcare system, the destruction of the education system, the targeting of journalists, and the Israeli blockade of Gaza, with its destruction of agricultural land and irrigation infrastructure that has produced widespread and lethal famine.
Even more so than Britain, since October 2023 Germany has sided with Israel, admittedly and willingly supporting and justifying the attack. Just as in the British case, a full investigation into Germany’s complacency in Gaza’s destruction is urgently required. Bringing the „Gaza Tribunal“ to Berlin should be seen as a step in that direction.
In a special international edition of „Zeit zu reden“, three of the participants in the tribunal – Jeremy Corbyn, Shahd Hammouri and Neve Gordon – will join us in Berlin to discuss the now-published conclusions of their inquiry, its political consequences, the attention it has succeeded in attracting, and its importance for the international recognition of Palestinian suffering

Walking the Talk: Start With Yourself
We are taking the In Your Shoes podcast out of the recording booth and into the room with you.
Ever feel like life in Berlin is moving a little too fast? Work, family, ambition, relationships, trying to keep up… sometimes you just want to sit down with people who get it and have a real conversation.
We talk about success and careers all the time. But we don't always talk about the things happening underneath it all. The doubts. The changes. Starting again. Figuring out who you are outside of your job.
That's the kind of conversation we're creating with In Your Shoes.

What would it mean to imagine and decide on our collective future in today’s times?
bUm and its community invites anyone with bold ideas, whether activists and the curious, workers and creators, or people otherwise looking to create a community of change, to participate in a festival of pushing the boundaries of the possible, in ways both real-world tested and experimental.
Together, we will explore social, political and economic perspectives on various future scenarios. We will counterpose this with imagined futures that question dominant narratives which have led to massive inequalities and injustice, so as to develop contrasting narratives. Futures that creatively find ways to reproduce the interlinked life of humans and other species for this and future generations. Futures that challenge the hyperconcentration of wealth in a few hands at the cost of our lives and the environment. Futures that question and redefine what we mean by growth and development.
