I have spent several hours trying to make an armature "walk" in a complicated pattern. I realized there had to be an easier way to do it, and I thought "what about putting the root bone on a track?" The only problem is, I can't have it on a track the entire time, only for about 300 frames. I recently learned Child Of constraints can be keyframed on and off, so is the same thing possible for tracks?

Or am I remembering my earliest classes wrong and "tracks" are absolutely not what I need.

(For anyone asking for the Blender file, I've tried to send Blender files here on pretty much every question I asked, only to meet with failure. I think my projects are just too large, or something, so you might have to work only from my description unless I can figure something else out.)

$\begingroup$ You said it yourself - you can keyframe a Child Of constraint, so that's already a way. Put something on a track and then use the constraint to attach something to it for as long as you want... $\endgroup$ Commented Sep 17 at 16:05
  • $\begingroup$ Oh...I wasn't aware you could combine constraints like that. THANK YOU, that makes my life a lot easier. $\endgroup$ Commented Sep 17 at 16:51
