The number of new investment home loans approved rose by 3.5% in the June quarter compared to the previous quarter, according to the latest lending data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). In comparison, new owner-occupier loans increased by only 0.9%. The 3.5% growth in the June quarter follows two consecutive quarterly falls, and may reflect growing investor confidence in response to the rate cuts in February and May. The number of new investor loans rose in most states and territories, with the largest increases in the Northern Territory (up 21.1%) and Western Australia (up 1.4%). #investmentproperty #investmentloans #propertyinvesting

The Federal Government has rebranded and expanded the Australian Government 5% Deposit Scheme, formerly known as the Home Guarantee Scheme. Recent research shows that around 66% of new home lending in New Zealand now goes through advisers, up from less than 30% about ten years ago. That’s a remarkable shift. But it reflects how the role of advisers has evolved. Today it’s not just about arranging a mortgage. Borrowers want: • Choice across multiple lenders • Help navigating increasingly complex lending rules • Strategic advice on how to structure finance properly In many ways the industry has moved from product distribution to professional advice.
