Updates

  • Four weeks from today, every M365 tenant gets Copilot in SharePoint turned on by default unless an admin opts out. That's the change Microsoft announced in MC1311968, alongside a rename that most teams haven't caught up with yet. Knowledge Agent became AI in SharePoint, which now becomes Copilot in SharePoint. We've just launched copilotinsharepoint.com to cover all of it. The site is written by Daniel Anderson, the Microsoft MVP who has been building inside the preview since September 2025. It includes: • The 2026 practitioner guide to what Copilot in SharePoint actually is • The three capabilities (What to Know, How to Act, What to Produce) • The admin playbook for the opt-out rollout, including the PowerShell commands • The Anthropic question, answered honestly (yes, Microsoft Copilot uses Claude inside SharePoint preview) • A deep dive on SharePoint AI Skills with worked examples • Ten video walkthroughs of real builds in real tenants • A free SHAREPOINT.md template to drop into your site's Agent Assets library The window between now and mid-June is short. The questions inside every IT team right now are the same. What is this. Do we want it on. What do we need to set up first. What about Anthropic. What's the rollback. The site answers them, in plain English, from inside the preview. https://lnkd.in/grHZe29j

  • I built a free SharePoint AI Skill that runs the meeting from one page. Generates a presentation-ready status report in under a minute. Works with the standard Work tracker list. No setup. The Work tracker list is built for tracking. Presenting it is on you. Until now that meant slide decks, screen grabs, filtering, sorting and organising. This skill works on the Out of the Box Work tracker list, but adjust it to what ever list you use to track items. You get one self-contained HTML report. The verdict sits at the top, one sentence on where the team actually stands. The risk surface is your agenda. Click any KPI to filter the table live, in the meeting. Grab the skill below. → https://lnkd.in/ggrnnHxS

  • I just delegated a full report to Copilot. Zero uploads. Pointed Cowork at a SharePoint library full of ticketing data, transcripts, and call logs. Asked for an interactive HTML dashboard with specific sections. Told it to grab the brand styling from a Design.md file in a separate library. Then archive all 22 source files into a May 2026 folder when finished. It built the lot. Charts, heat maps, sticky nav, branded correctly. No files in chat. The shift here is real people trust me. Chat with AI is the slow lane. Delegation is the move. Systems over prompts.

  • We now have a Claude Code → Microsoft 365 plugin converter. One PowerShell cmdlet. Five minutes. SKILL.md files copy across unchanged. If you already have a Claude Code plugin with skills and MCP servers, you can now have Cowork plugins. The script is Convert-ClaudePluginToMOS3.ps1. It reads your Claude Code plugin and produces a Microsoft 365 .zip ready to sideload via the Admin Centre. The same SKILL.md format runs in nine AI tools now. Cowork. AI in SharePoint. Claude.ai Projects. VS Code Copilot. Gemini CLI. JetBrains Junie. OpenAI Codex. Cursor. Claude Code itself. One file format. Nine destinations. The packaging is the only thing that changes. Testing this week.... convert a Claude Code plugin, sideload it for one user in a tenant. Thirty minutes from scratch. Five from an existing plugin. Cross-ecosystem AI workflow used to be a thought experiment. As of Tuesday, it is a single PowerShell call. Full walkthrough: https://lnkd.in/gUGy6n5r

  • Most haven't enabled Agent Assets yet. It's a 5-click activation that unlocks Skills and Plans in any SharePoint site. If you've been wondering where the Agent Assets library lives, or why your tenant doesn't seem to have it, this is the missing step. Here's the full walkthrough 👇 1. Be a site collection admin ↳ If you're not, find out who is. You can't activate this without that role. 2. Click the settings cog (top right) in your SharePoint site ↳ Then choose Site information. 3. Click "View all site settings" ↳ Scroll down to Site collection administration. 4. Open "Site collection features" ↳ This is the same place you'd enable document sets. 5. Find "Agent Assets" and click Activate ↳ Takes a few seconds. Don't refresh the page. That's it. Now go to Site contents. You'll see a new library called Agent Assets with two folders: Skills and Plans. This is where Copilot agents store the reusable AI skills you build for your tenant. Once it's enabled, you can use AI in SharePoint to write a skill for you. Tell it: "Write a skill that takes a transcript from a document library and generates a YouTube description with timestamps and 5 alternate titles." It drafts the skill. You review. It saves to the Skills folder automatically. About 3 minutes from "where do I start" to "I have a working AI skill." ♻️ Save this for later or repost to help another M365 admin unlock Agent Assets. And follow Daniel Anderson for more on AI in SharePoint.

  • i've been telling clients to use SharePoint metadata for twenty years. some ignored me, some said it was too hard ... now ... They want to use Copilot. a client texted me last week. "our copilot is suddenly really good. what changed?" nothing changed on their side. but late last year microsoft shipped metadata understanding to copilot agents. agents now reason over your tags, content types, and site columns. not just the text in your files. so does AI in SharePoint... the clients who built proper content types years ago are watching their copilot get smarter every month. they did the boring work then. the AI dividend just landed. the ones who skipped metadata are paying consultants to write better prompts. wrong layer. if your copilot is returning rubbish, the problem isn't the model. more often than not it's the SharePoint underneath. i recorded a 90 minute course showing how to fix this. link in the comments.

  • Now this is where things get real #linkedin

I do not have a CFO. I just got a CFO briefing from a Markdown file and exports from Xero. Every SharePoint AI Skill demo right now is reviewing things or summaries or comparisons. That is the easy 10 per cent. The work that actually moves a small business sits in the back office. The monthly briefing. The cost audit. The "can we afford to hire" model. Most founders fly blind on it or pay an outside accountant who sends a PDF a month late. I built finance-ops. It lives at /Agent Assets/Skills/finance-ops/SKILL.md on a SharePoint site I run. You select your Xero exports in chat. P&L, Balance Sheet, Aged Payables, Aged Receivables, Account Transactions. The Skill reads each report from its content shape, not its filename. Then runs one of three workflows: CFO briefing, cost audit, or scenario model. Output below is the briefing I would have written if I had a CFO. Or the briefing a CFO writes when they have one less Friday afternoon to spend on it. This is what a high-ROI SharePoint Skill looks like. Back-office work your team outsources or skips. Not the document-review demos. Finance-ops drops on sharepointaiskills[dot]com this week.

  • Now this is what we are talking about people…..

SharePoint Skills can now produce interactive, branded HTML dashboards. I built one today by chaining two skills in a single prompt. This is what is NOW POSSIBLE..... Here is what I ran. An e-commerce sales spreadsheet sitting in SharePoint. One skill for the weekly analysis. One for our design system. Both loaded when I typed "weekly review" in SharePoint chat. Output was a branded HTML report. Performance snapshot, charts, category and region breakdowns, areas of concern, a drop-down of the top 10 products, and recommended actions. All on brand. All interactive. The chaining is the real shift. One skill handles the analysis. The other enforces your colours, fonts, and layout. Your weekly report lands the same shape every week, produced by anyone on the team. One Skill.md file in your Agent Assets library. Written once. Run by the team. Full walkthrough in the video.
