APRA CPS 230 & APRA CPG 235: their relationship? When CPS 230 took effect on 1 July 2025, I wondered how it connects with CPG 235. So I asked APRA. Their response? “It is reasonable for a regulated entity to consider the guidance outlined in CPG 235 to meet the data risk requirements in CPS 230 Operational Risk Management.” My takeaways: 1️⃣ APRA sees CPG 235 as the go-to guide for managing data risk in line with the data risk requirements of CPS 230 2️⃣ CPS 230 reframes how regulated entities should approach CPG 235 today — shifting the focus from data elements to business processes. 3️⃣ …and it looks like we’ll be waiting a while longer for “CPS 235".
