Did you know? A lot of the work building Australia’s tech pipeline also happens in schools, often behind the scenes. ACS (Australian Computer Society) members, volunteers, staff, and partners have been contributing to this effort for many years. Organisations like Gameloft Brisbane, Mansfield State High School, Bundaberg State High School have been inspiring students to explore tech careers through #gaming and #esports. Queensland Government have funded various ACS programs over the years which have reached over 60,000 students. Young Tech Ambassadors like Joshua Ho, Ben Gittins, and Tyson Butler-Boschma have helped countless students see a future for themselves in tech. Matthew Jorgensen, Jonathan Nalder, Catherine Newington, Alannah Grech and Lhamo Ma work with industry, professionals, schools, and teachers every day to build this tech pipeline the nation counts on.
Much of the work shaping Australia’s future tech workforce takes place in schools, where partnerships with industry and the broader Australian Computer Society community are exposing students to real-world technology careers and helping teachers keep pace with rapid change. The future of Australian cyber shouldn't be decided behind closed doors. It’s the statement at the heart of our CyberPath Town Hall sessions. In conversation with industry, our aim is to bring clarity, trust and fairness to how cyber capability is recognised in Australia, without imposing a one‑size‑fits‑all model. In order to get this right, the program needs real input from people across the cyber ecosystem. It’s not too take part in the consultation, complete our short survey and make sure your voice is heard: https://lnkd.in/gEitNpUP Your feedback will directly inform the frameworks, pathways and standards shaped during this pilot program. A good professionalisation scheme is one that reflects the actual day-to-day needs of the cyber ecosystem, so now is the time to speak up. CyberPath is a Government‑supported initiative led by the Australian Computer Society, with industry partners including Australian Information Security Association (AISA), AWSN - Australian Women in Security Network and the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre.
