From finance gap to AI leap. At #FINNO2026, UNIDO reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening SMEs in the Western Balkans, bridging gaps in finance, digital readiness, and innovation capacity. With the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Centre (SMIC) now serving as the AIM Global - Western Balkan Chapter, we are connecting global AI expertise with real industrial transformation on the ground. As Jason Slater, Chief AI innovation and Digital Officer, UNIDO AI Innovation and Digital Transformation noted: “Developing countries and emerging economies face a $4 trillion annual financing gap for sustainable development, while global investment in artificial intelligence is projected to reach $2 trillion this year.” And during the panel Innovation & Growth Finance: From Idea to Scale, Aleksei SAVRASOV emphasized: “Innovation does not fail because of a lack of ideas, it fails because we have not built a reliable bridge between validation and capital.” The message is clear: innovation must be tested, validated, and connected to capital to scale. Rooted in tradition, propelled by technology, Uzbekistan’s textile industry is embracing a bold, digital future.   At Collection Première Moscow (CPM) 2026, the GUZAR umbrella brand, developed under the UNIDO project made its international debut. But this wasn’t just a fashion showcase. It was proof that digital transformation is reshaping an entire industry.  Behind every collection presented were:  📐 Advanced pattern-making and grading systems  🧵 Modern prototyping and production technologies  📊 Smarter cost calculation and market positioning strategies  The impact?  ✨ Export contracts signed on the spot  ✨ 30+ new international business connections  ✨ Pilot agreements with online platforms  ✨ A stronger, unified international image under the GUZAR brand uniting 7 companies  Uzbek manufacturers are emerging as digitally enabled, market-ready producers competing in mid and upper-mid global segments where precision, quality and speed matter most. And this is just the beginning. MWC26 | From Pilots to Production — Building Industrial AI That Scales As #MWC26 concludes in Barcelona, one message resonated across all our engagements: AI transformation will not be driven by algorithms alone. During MWC Barcelona, the UNIDO AI Innovation and Digital Transformation team participated in key sessions including Hello Mobile AI, GSMA Ministerial Programme and the Global AI+ Public Service Summit. The team engaged alongside partners such as Huawei, GSMA, GSMA Foundation, NTT DATA, IESE Business School, and other industry leaders. These discussions reinforced UNIDO’s role in connecting telecom innovation with inclusive industrial development and opening new pathways for collaboration through AIM Global.
