We're proud to contribute to this global initiative that is being scaled up by UNICEF, bringing the power of play to children recovering from malnutrition. Turning ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) cartons into meaningful moments of connection shows what’s possible when partners unite around shared purpose. the LEGO Group, IKEA, UCL, University of Oxford
Every year, millions of cartons of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) reach children suffering from severe malnutrition. In 2026, UNICEF is introducing a new packaging requirement that will transform these cartons into toys. Because play is the right of every child. In close collaboration with The LEGO Foundation, IKEA, Mondi Group, UCL and University of Oxford, we designed RUTF cartons to feature integrated toy designs that can enable play, learning and connection that are essential to the recovery of children suffering from malnutrition. The power of play helps children regain physical strength, boost cognitive skills and strengthen bonds with their caregivers.

Big parts, smart packaging. eCommerce is often associated with small parcels, but shipping large automotive parts like car bumpers requires a different packaging approach. Together with Ovoko, our teams developed a tailored solution by adapting a proven heavy-duty automotive packaging concept for eCommerce. The result: - Up to 42% reduction in unit packaging costs - Improved product protection during transit - More efficient packaging operations “At Ovoko, we needed packaging that was simple to assemble, cost-effective and tough enough to protect everything we ship. Mondi not only listened carefully to our needs but also proposed a solution that allowed us to reduce packaging costs while improving product protection,” says Agnius Skudutis, Packaging Project Manager at Ovoko. What a day hosting our first FlexForward event! On 6 May we welcomed customers from Petfood, Fresh Food and Coffee along with machine suppliers and industry experts to our FlexStudios in Steinfeld. A major step forward for sustainable packaging just went live in Hamburg. Last week we’ve joined the opening of traceless materials’ first industrial production facility that marks a critical step in turning material innovation into real-world impact. It was fantastic to be part of the opening ceremony and celebrate this important milestone together with everyone involved. In close collaboration with traceless, we are developing a plant-based, fossil free alternative from agricultural by-products that helps reduce plastic use and supports more circular packaging systems. We believe partnerships are key to scaling sustainable solutions and our collaboration with traceless is a strong example of how innovation can move from idea to industrial application. Congratulations to Anne Lamp, Sina Spingler, Jakob Röskamp and the entire traceless team as well as our colleagues Marko Bill Schuster, Hendrik Benecke and Falk Paulsen on reaching this milestone. We’re proud to be part of this journey.

PPWR will accelerate the transition to sustainable packaging — and 98% of our flexible packaging portfolio already has a circular solution in place or in development. Last week at interpack, our Consumer Flexibles COO Eveline Wagner joined Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) to share how Mondi is helping customers navigate the transition to circular packaging — and what it takes to scale these solutions across Europe. From mono-material plastics to paper-based composites designed for recycling, Eveline highlighted that there is more than one route to sustainability. Where do you see the biggest opportunity in your transition to circular packaging? Discover our full portfolio: https://lnkd.in/ddB6YznG
