Last month, in the lead-up to his 50th birthday, our Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham launched a fundraising appeal for UNICEF, to support our work for the world’s most vulnerable children. As David celebrates this milestone today, we wish him a very happy birthday and thank him for more than two decades of championing children’s rights with us. You can join David in showing your support for children whose rights to education, health and protection are even more at risk amid a global funding crisis. Donate today: https://lnkd.in/gzAyAAv6

“With each passing day of the aid blockade, they face the growing risk of starvation, illness and death – nothing can justify this.” Full statement from UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell on the situation for children in the Gaza Strip after two months of aid blockade : https://lnkd.in/gwgtRVNR

Sick. Thirsty. Starving. Children in the Gaza Strip are now facing the worst humanitarian crisis since the beginning of the war amid the aid blockade, relentless bombardments and forced displacement. Food prices have surged and many children are not getting enough to eat, let alone proper nutrition. We have already shared the story of a mother salvaging edible bits from mouldy bread to feed her children. UNICEF has hundreds of trucks waiting to enter the Gaza Strip with life-saving supplies for children and is continuing to distribute the remaining supplies in Gaza to children and families. Join us in calling for aid to be allowed into Gaza again, the ceasefire reinstated and hostages released. The lives of over 1 million children depend on it.

In 2022, nearly 350,000 women globally died from cervical cancer – 7,000 in Nigeria alone. See how Binta is helping change this – by engaging families in her community on the importance of vaccinating girls against human papillomavirus (HPV). Now more than ever, we need to support community health workers and vaccine programmes protecting children. UNICEF will continue to stay for children. Join us in sharing the message that vaccines save lives.
