In a world looking to decrease carbon intensity onshore and offshore, the emergence of oil-free compressors for marine and LNG carriers has proven to be a very timely and relevant difference maker. Today, oil-free boil-off gas (BOG) compressors are used in both low-duty and high-duty applications on LNG fueled vessels powered by dual-fuel engines, for re-liquefaction plants, LNG storage and fuel gas systems, as well as regasification plants. Counting the equipment currently still in construction, this technology will in a few years be present on close to 200 vessels worldwide.
