Last week our team attended the Make it in the Emirates event in Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪 What stood out most was the scale of investment and momentum building around R&D - it’s clear innovation is becoming central to the UAE’s industrial strategy. In March the Ministry of Finance launched the R&D tax credit regime, which shows that the UAE is not just encouraging innovation, it is actively enabling it. Phase 1 of the UAE R&D credit introduces tiered benefits of up to 50% on qualifying spend, governed by Cabinet Decision 215 of 2025 and Ministerial Decision 24 of 2026. The UAE has extended the deadline to appoint an e-invoicing Accredited Service Provider (ASP) to 30 October 2026 for businesses with revenues above AED 50M.   We welcome this extension by the Ministry of Finance in providing businesses more room to evaluate providers and make informed decisions. However it is important to note that the mandatory go-live date of 1 January 2027 remains unchanged.   Delaying your ASP appointment until October leaves you with only a couple of months to select a provider, onboard, integrate with your ERP, and test before going live. For businesses with complex systems, this is a significantly compressed timeline. Yesterday Qatar’s Cabinet approved a draft law on e‑invoicing and its executive regulations, marking a key step toward formalising digital invoicing in the country 🇶🇦 The new framework - developed by the Ministry of Finance and the General Tax Authority - aims to enhance transparency, support digital transformation, and strengthen compliance. What does this mean? E‑invoicing in Qatar is now transitioning into a regulated reality.
