ISSUE #266 links to https://space.stackexchange.com/questions/67931/what-would-happen-if-you-stuck-your-hand-into-the-beam-of-an-ion-thruster but the question has been removed even though the newsletter is only 6 hours old.

This isn't the first time an "Interesting Question" has been removed before I can even click the link. I don't have the reputation to see why it was removed, but it seems strange that a question can be deemed interesting enough to send out in the newsletter but then deleted on the site (presumably for some kind of "low quality" etc. reason).

Can questions specifically sent out in the newsletter not be protected, at least for a certain period to stop this happening?

Edit: Here is a screenshot of the email as the blog post is not up yet, the question is referenced 3 times in the content which makes it even worse! enter image description here

Can you link to issue #266? The latest visible I can see is 265: stackoverflow.blog/newsletter Commented Feb 26 at 17:12

Not yet unfortunately, it seems the email newsletter is sent out long before the blog is updated. I have added a screenshot of the email to the question. Commented Feb 26 at 17:20

Not only that, but said question was wrongly deleted (mod deleting a cross post that actually did get great original answers). Best solution is undeletion Commented Feb 26 at 17:26
  • How are... either of those questions even relevant to developers? "This newsletter is by developers for developers" is it tho? Commented Feb 26 at 17:59

I've asked about the question on Space Exploration Meta. Commented Feb 26 at 18:47
  • @Starship the author of the only answer to the Space.se cross-post even suggested deleting the question, and that they could post their answer over on the original Physics.se question. Not sure why you’re suggesting that having to exactly identical questions on two sites with two different accepted answers is “best” Commented Feb 26 at 20:29

It wasn’t low quality, just a cross-post from Physics SE.

I’m going to reiterate what I said on the Space Exploration Meta post that Sonic made earlier.

The question was deleted because it was (perhaps in error) cross-posted from Physics SE, where it already had an accepted answer, and it was more of a physics question anyway—sticking a hand in an ion engine should not be a part of regular space exploration activities. To be fair to the OP, someone on Physics SE had suggested cross-posting here, so it’s not really their fault that they thought it would be a good idea.

To be clear, the question is a high-quality question, and it and its accepted answer got lots of upvotes. However the cross-posting suggestion was in error, so the later instance on SXSE was deleted while the instance on PSE remains.

You can find the PSE post, which is virtually-identical in all respects, here on PSE.

Quoting from the deleted comments:

it is both cross and re posted from Physics.SE - with an accepted answer over there no less. Also without any sort of update/follow-on questions. However, over on the original question someone commented with a suggestion to do that, so I can’t exactly blame the OP for that

In order to sort out the cross-posting etc, I think the simplest solution is to delete this instance. @Uhoh - that will lose you the upvotes here, but if you are happy with that, let me know and I'll delete.
