The tipster adds that the display combines both hardware and software-based privacy features to help protect on-screen content from onlookers.
While the tipster did not explicitly mention the Xiaomi 18 Pro series, comments in the Weibo thread suggest that Digital Chat Station was referring to the upcoming flagship lineup. The tipster also reiterates that the lineup will be unveiled in September.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are rumored to retain the secondary rear display introduced with the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. However, the rear screen is said to grow to 4 inches.
As per rumors, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipsets. The Pro is said to get a 6.3-inch display and a 7,000mAh or larger battery. On the other hand, the 18 Pro Max is tipped to come with a 6.9-inch display. Both phones are also rumored to feature dual 200MP rear cameras.

Even if Apple copies this useless gimmick, it will still be a useless gimmick. A display with pale colors and poor viewing angles is still a crippled display, regardless of the brand.

It is a useless feature not because the feature is bad, but because it comes with a hit in the sharpness of the display. Until/unless someone can implement it without that compromise, it's not a good feature.
