A recent rumor claimed that Apple is considering making a teleconverter kit for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. Well, you can now get one for the iPhone 16 Pro and 17 Pro series.
PGYTech has announced its new RetroVa Vintage Imaging kit for the iPhone 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, and the 17 Pro Max. The kit includes a protective case, a leather grip with physical controls and a microSD card slot, and a 2.35x telephoto extender lens.
The case offers a black pebbled leather finish that takes inspiration from retro cameras. You also get a premium leather grip in the package that includes a metal-texture shutter button, a multi-function button, a zoom lever, and a control dial.
It also features a microSD slot and a USB 3.1 Type-C port. You can directly record to the card, in case you were wondering. The kit even supports a lens adapter ring, a 1/4-inch-20 thread tripod socket, and a strap.
With the 2.35x telephoto extender, the iPhone 17 Pro series can effectively achieve a 235mm native focal length, translating to roughly 10x zoom. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro lineup, which features a 5x optical telephoto sensor, can reach 282mm, equivalent to around 12x zoom.
There’s also a PGYTech Pro Imaging app that offers 400, 600, and 960mm focal lengths. You can also add a 2x telephoto extender or light filters via the adapter ring.
For those who’re interested in this teleconverter kit, the product is currently available on Kickstarter. The full kit will set you back $184, whereas only the grip kit with the case is priced at $72. The 2x telephoto lens is also priced at $72, whereas the light filters will cost you $16.
