If it shuts down automatically at battery level : 60%, one ought to replace the old battery with a new one. It won't overheat if you install the cleaner app. This is because many apps are running in the background of the Android. Just like a lap...

Any ideas about upgrading the Android 6.0 to Android 8.0 or 9.0?

A good smartphone indeed. No problem for me as I have been using it for more than 4 years. Much better than other China brand phones. Just change the battery if it is faulty.
