what is the last major update for this?
is it stopped @ android 14 & one ui 6
What a legend for the price... In terms of performance and OS, it was way better than the A13, both 4G and 5G, and even beat the A14 in almost everything. The battery life was extremely good and I'm still looking for a phone that will overthrow this in a battery life/thickness ratio. 4GB RAM was a bummer but the SD695 choice was legendary, even Nokia/HMD used the SD695 in phones with a higher price point (both the G and the X series). The OS was true 64 bit, not the 32 bit OS on a 64 bit SoC crap the A13 used, that's why I bought the A23 instead, and the choice of the ringtones and soundthemes was insane compared to the A13, A14, A15, A16 and even the A07/A17 duo. So sad that the OS was still fictionally "OneUI Core", just rebranded to the full OneUI, but it lacked the turn off shutter sound option (why?) in the EU, bought in the EU, and the AR Emoji was limited, to just 2 options (no AR camera and more), and also, it lacked the 1080p@60fps option, even though the SD695 supported it, and the slow motion mode was extremely barebones at 720p@30fps without sound. They could've used less sensors, like 2 or 3 but add the 1080p@60fps option and normal slow mo. And also, OneUI 6.0 came in December instead of November, and unlike their M & F cousins and the A14, the A23 5G didn't get OneUI 6.0 beta, so it was a long wait. Unfortunately, the screen got shattered shortly after and after a while, it started showing LCD glitches and artifacts, and now, it is dead. Good phone. But I will never buy Samsung anymore, as they removed the bootloader unlock option, and show less effort than Apple, while still trying to win due to brand loyalty. Sad.

Version, 15 May 2025Will this model get UI7, Android 15?No
it says it charges up to 25W, dont believe that. i have this phone and it only charges up to 9W. also it wont charge on usb c to c charger or any charger that can go up to 30W.
So disappointing.
I bought a Samsung on recommendation from numerous friends and family, who all claimed even the A series was more than good enough. I'm here to argue that it is not. I deeply regret my purchase and I can't wait to replace it once I feel it has served for long enough:
It can't really multitask, having two apps "open" at once always takes you through the app startup process. Get a text while watching a video? Tough luck. Open the text app and then re-open youtube. It's even worse when you get a text during a game. Loading pokemon go takes ages.
The camera is terrible. The 50MP claim is a complete lie. It has a 12MP sensor with which it can "take 48MP pictures" where it combines 4 pictures at once.
Zooming in at all in any picture mode shows just how bad the sensor is in the first place.
1080p30FPS video? My 2017 phone could do 1080p60FPS.
The selfie camera is angled weird too.
The compass doesn't work half the time and when it does it's only if I hold my phone up like a neanderthal.
There are many staple samsung-only features missing from this phone, too. Built-in QR code scanner, screen recorder, audio recorder, the ability to share a WiFi network (You can only do a hotspot for your data, not as a WiFi relay)... why? Third party apps can do that just fine, could samsung not figure out a way to add that to this phone?
The build materials are horrible, it feels bendy and soft.
On smaller nitpicks:
The 90Hz refresh rate is pointless when it struggles to animate it's own UI, let alone the graphics of any app. None of the cases I've found fit properly over the ugly and massive camera bulge.

John, 04 Dec 2024I have this phone (A23 5G) and i think that it has very poor battery life for 5000 mAh (only 2... morelol, being srcastically?
The A23 5g is simple mid range phone but I discovered 1 good thing that no other phone or even flagship phone hv. It is the Bluetooth audio loudness. It increase loudness of ur Bluetooth speaker by about 30%! I tested against Xiaomi, Samsung flagship phones, it beat them by 30% more loudness! 30% is a lot! Anyone know which phones boost Bluetooth loudness?
i love the a_3(s) samsung phones, these designs are so pretty, the last good generation of the a series phones. this is the best ultra-budget 5g phone you can get in my opinion
I have this phone (A23 5G) and i think that it has very poor battery life for 5000 mAh (only 2 days). What can i do for this?
My a23 5G doesn't have any problems at all. It loads fast and most games are playable in Ultra setting (although it lags some games on ultra) And the battery is fine. If you want more battery just lower the refresh rate to 90 or 60. The only Problem, It has is when you have too much of apps in the background It does Lag a lot other than that everything's ok. The camera is decent. Just close apps after opening 7 apps. Thats it. I mean come-on You can't expect more than that from a Budget Mid-range phone.
Lucas 5G, 06 Oct 2024This phone has a serious bug after doing the Android 14 and One UI 6.1 update where I tried to... moreNope I don't feel anything like that in one ui 6.1
