Anonymous, 19 Jul 2026Any news on OS and security updates? If it's anything like recent models it'll be 3 years (2 major updates + 1 year security updates) in most of the world, and 5 years (3 major updates + 2 years security updates) in the UK and Europe.

It seems to me that their answer for not being able to keep the thing cool is throttle it from the beginning, which can kind of work for most mobile games but there are quite a few games (and PC emulators, which it includes out of the box) that will be able to use that extra performance so really it's a fail. For general use the battery life seems laughably bad given how big the battery is supposed to be.

Will be waiting for the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2 and hoping the battery life ends up being worlds better than this. If I wanted to play PC games on the go my phone (ironically a Redmagic) is just more convenient because my telescopic controller won't fit a tablet, and the few times I need a bigger screen then the phone I'd rather use the Switch 2 or even a laptop.

With the transition into the snapdragon elite chipset, especially the SG8Eg5, we should expect nothing less than super speed and an awesome gaming quality in modern mobile devices.

Technology has really come a long way

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2026They all can! They just consistently run worse frametimes and at higher power margins, because... morefor most games the performance is already enough, and this is a tablet, endurance is not the very first concern. if you really need to play most recent and demanding chinese gachas, then go for snapdragon.

RushGamer, 18 Jul 2026Who said its throttling if you dont even owned the device yet? I've owned several Redmagi... moreLenovo and Asus also never throttling than average flagships due to high thermal throttling limit , matter fact on Asus u can manually adjust thermal limit to 55°c without root needed. Idk if Lenovo has similar feature but my friend had old y70 2022 model and never throttle even at 46°c temp during emulation test. Realme tryna implement same feature thru Geek Tuning but it failed miserablely since it barely bother the system level kernel so it counts as gimmick feature.

They just consistently run worse frametimes and at higher power margins, because most modern games favor multiple prime cores (2+6 like in the 8eg5) instead of one super prime core like in the mtk chips.
