"I will never buy a Samsung phone again. It is a waste of money for an underwhelming product.User interface: 4/5Display: 4/5Performance: 3/5Battery life: 3/5Speaker: 2/5Camera: 2/5!!! The camera produces photos that are so bad that my 5-year-old A52 5G took significantly better ones. The photo quality is an absolute disaster. The presence of a macro camera is an insult. Overall verdict: Never again a Samsung A or S series. It is a waste of money."

Recently Samsung has killed the only advantage of their "A" series phones starting with the A36/A56/A57 by removing the SDcard slot. I work at a phone repair shop, and get customers daily with unfixable broken/smashed phones looking to transfer all their data to a replacement phone. While the Google and Samsung accounts contains some of their data (limited by the amount of gigs they have), it's almost never everything. If they had an SDcard installed, ALL their data would be saved on the card, but now that's no longer possible. Shame on Samsung!
Only the A1x series still has a slot like the A17 but with lower specs than the A3x/A5x series, and probably they will remove the slot on all their newer phones. On the other hand, Motorola still has a slot on all their phones, even the latest flagships like the Power/Stylus 2026, along with a wired headphone jack. For people who care about their data and being able to expand it up to a 1TB (1,000 GB), it's important to have an SDard slot. Just my 2cents.

For less money you can get a flagship SoC from the S23FE. It comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which runs circles around any "A model".

Look at the ppi of the Poco x8 pro max and look at the ppi in the spec section of this phone. Slower charging, much smaller battery, much weaker SoC, lower volume speakers, and worse connectivity likely, essentially only 8gb ram variants are available in Europe at the price of 12gb abroad, so not really a leader. It has a marginally better camera with no telephoto, thinner and lighter (who cares tbh) and 2 years extra OS. That's really where the positives stop.

Not the slower SoC? the battery capacity being so low it has half the activity score of the x8 pro max? The lower ppi? The quiter speakers? the slower charging? worse reception?

I Have A Serious Suggestion to GSMArena. Test Samsung devices at least 2 months later from the launch date. Are you serious people? Poco X8 max ? Max? Nothing 4a ? Seriously? A57 is at the price point of Nothing 3a. It's 100 euros LESS than 4a !!!!!!! I'm trying to suggest a phone to friends based on your site and it DOES NOT make ANY sense price wise. Now I'm more confused! Since a phone is not only the hardware but SOFTWARE as well. We got A57 with 6 solid years and a very light stylish and capable phone!!!!! At just 370€ the 8/256 GB variant. The only disadvantage is the RAM. 8GB might not prove that much future proof. And that's it! C'mon!!!!!!! What say you?????? What ??????????

Zack, 26 Apr 2026Over price Yeah, but discounts are quite common for Sammy. Saw the 8/256 GB down to ~ $ 450, which is pretty good. They're always expensive within the first month of launch. I'm guesstimating that before summer ends, you can get the 8/256 for ~ $ 400. Just wished for better camera performance - it's 95% the same quality as A56.
