Just came from the pura 90 ultra review and saw some things in comparison to this and wanted to check it out. Especially camera.
The pura 90 has some of the least hot garbage photo processing in daylight I've seen in some time. So I was curious about this 17 ultra. Then after reading the first few lines before checking out photos gsm got me all excited.
Then I checkout the photos.... Same over processed for garbage as everything else

DareDevil01, 09 Mar 2026Am I the only one who isn't hearing this magical bass below 100Hz on some of these phones... moreThank you so much! I literally read all the comments just to see if anyone noticed this as well. I bought the Xiaomi 17 ultra 4 days ago and I was blown away by the speakers it has. I occasionally use my phone to listen to music when im cooking and it is such a nice upgrade from my pixel 6 pro. My gf has a Galaxy s25 ultra and the speakers also sound tiny in comparison. It is immediately noticable and I didn't even touch the tunning in the settings.
I was curious to see if GSMArena mentioned it in their review but I was surprised to see that the iphone 17 pro max has more bass according to their measurements. If you listen to the tracks they provide and include the s25 ultra, the galaxy sounds the bass-iest even though the graph doesn't support this claim. I am using the Sennheiser momentum 4 headphones, so they are bassy enough to hear the differences. There is something wrong either with the graphs or the methodology.

However, nowadays I just use a full body rugged case, so it's not an issue for me anymore.

The rest of phone still looks very premium, so that's still a good thing, especially when I can get it for ยฃ300 cheaper than the S26 Ultra.

I don't know what to think about giving this phone such a high score when it ships with bloated and extremely privacy invasive OS that makes Google look benevolent in nature.
You'd think $1500 is enough to be treated like a premium customer but apparently not and you still have to assume anything you put on the phone is beamed directly to Xiaomi and scanned for anything of interest. In many enterprise settings these phones are explicitly banned and the whitelist of what's allowed on the premises is very short, usually strictly limited to an iPhone or a Samsung at best.
The hardware of Xiaomi Ultra device is extremely impressive and better than anything Samsung has put out in years but I think reviewers and journalists have the ethical obligation to point out that purchasing such a device is essentially a deal with the devil, in a way.

Am I the only one who isn't hearing this magical bass below 100Hz on some of these phones? Look at the Xiaomi 17 Ultra vs the S25 Ultra. There's not this noticeable extension of bass below 100Hz that the graph would have us believe. Even look at 17 Pro vs the 17 Ultra. The 17 Pro looks like it has better bass response, but in songs it just sounds distorted. I'm guessing when you do the frequency sweep, the measurement microphone is picking up harmonic distortion as signal at those frequencies. Because to my ears (wearing Beyer DT770s) the Ultra 17 doesn't sound that much deeper than the Samsung. (I have a Pixel btw.)

Anonymous, 01 Mar 2026Sony was replaced by ombivusion to reduce costs. Obviously quality would reduce too. BS. Sony's type-1 sensor captures less dynamic range than Omnivision's comparable sensor (which has LOFIC), and Xiaomi obviously wanted to take advantage of the latest technologies as they got a lot of flak for their cameras' very inconsistent HDR processing in the past.

It's best to have the widest DR at the hardware level using one-shot HDR, since image stacking algorithms, even the most advanced ones out there, could still produce a bit of artifacts when moving subjects are involved.
