pangolinpanda, 06 Nov 2021If "Lacks Google services" is a con, why isn't that the case on iPhone?lol, you try to be cringe? IOS has its own ecosystem, it doesn't need Google. Android? Well, most application, and the important one, needs gms, that's why it's a big cons when it has no gms, especially when you live NOT in China.

Huawei don't even use sony sensors for their P50 Pro because of US restrictions. Which means no sony sensors. That's why P50 Pro uses Omnivision sensors, but how can the Nova 9 uses an IMX sony 766 sensor? Are they not banned?

Didn't expect it to be that dissapointing. Looked merely good in paper. Though what woult you expect even the nova 8 series isn't thta bad now that it's quite cheap.

Flagship design and display for less is Nova 9.
But still, Poco F3, Mi 11T, Realme GT and even samsungs are better

Huawei just stop trying to sell crappy phones outside of china. So called macro and depth cameras are just waste of space. You have to search apps in 2 different search engines unlike every competitor this phone has. Worst user experience in the market.

Could someone who has Nova 9 try this ?
There is a guy that has taken an app called "oh_info" (https://www.coolapk.com/apk/com.yricky.oh_info), that is supposedly used to check the OpenHarmony version (the open source version of HarmonyOS). He says that he managed to transfer this app to Nova 9 (which till now some Android info apps such as Geekbench state that it has Android 11 underneath). Now, according to what he says, if this "oh_info" app shows something on Nova 9, then the phone is running Harmony OS. If it doesn't, then Nova 9 is on Android (10, or 11, or whatever).
So before everything else, he also installed this app to Nova 8i (which we all know has Android 10). On Nova 8i the "oh_info" app showed nothing, meaning that Nova 8i is not running on HarmonyOS but on Android (10). When running this "oh_info" app on Nova 9 it showed Nova 9's EMUI 12 is based in OpenHarmony 2.1.0
He concludes that EMUI 12 that will be pushed to all Global devices will thus be HarmonyOS. But not the same version that is running on Chinese devices. More likely a lighter version.

I just wonder, whose idea was to price this 499 euros??!!
In my country, I can buy a Moto Edge 20 Pro for 520, and that one wipes the floor with the Nova 9.
Epic fail on Huawei's part.
Why not make a 300 euro phone with the Dimensity 900 chipset, 90hz OLED, stereo speakers and a decent Omnivision sensor?

for the first time since november 2020 huawei phone review is back. btw mi 11 lite 5G NE is better and cheaper.
