Alongside the Turbo 5 Max, which went official in China yesterday, Redmi also unveiled the base Turbo 5 with a smaller battery and the Dimensity 8500-Ultra SoC.

It’s the first phone in the world to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset. The Turbo 5 comes with LPDDR5 Ultra RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, and the same vapor chamber cooling setup as the larger Max model.

The Redmi Turbo 5 features a slightly smaller 6.59-inch AMOLED display compared to the Max variant. The display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 3,500 nits peak brightness, and 1.5K resolution. It’s also a 12-bit panel with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.

The device packs a 7,560mAh battery and supports 100W wired charging. It also gets 27W reverse wired charging, similar to the Turbo 5 Max.

For cameras, the Turbo 5 has a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary rear sensor that’s coupled with an 8MP ultrawide unit. At the front, it features a 20MP selfie camera.

The handset runs Android 16-based Xiaomi HyperOS 3. It gets a metal frame and a glass back panel, similar to the Turbo 5 Max.

Other specs of the phone include an in-display optical fingerprint scanner, an infrared sensor, stereo speakers, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and NFC. In terms of dimensions, it measures 8.18mm thick and weighs 204g.

The Redmi Turbo 5 comes in Auspicious Cloud White, Light Sea Green, and Shadow Black color options.

It is currently up for order via the official Xiaomi China online store. The 12GB/256GB option is CNY 1,999 ($290) and the 12GB/512GB variant is CNY 2,299 ($330). Meanwhile, the 16GB/256GB model will cost you CNY 2,299 ($330) and the 16GB/512GB option is CNY 2,599 ($370).

No audio jack No sd card reader No fm radio At least they didn't forget NFC or sim card slot like on their tablets 🤣

yeah very cool to have that camera we definitely havent seen in even high spec midrange phones /j but hey i guess this is the way of cost cutting
