Weekly poll results: the small Oppo Reno15 Pro has a shot, the other two miss the mark

Weekly poll Oppo

Not so long ago, it looked like mini smartphones were all but dead – now they seem to be thriving with multiple makers launching models at several price points. Oppo launched one in the Reno15 series and it was the clear winner of last week’s poll. But how successful would it be outside of its Reno15 family?

The Oppo Reno15 Pro, aka Reno15 Pro Mini in India, didn’t knock it out of the park with around a quarter of the vote going in its favor – notably, there are a lot more people who think they can get a better deal with other petite smartphones. Still, if you look at the yellow pie slice, you will see that this phone is not losing many buyers to its Reno15 siblings.

On the other side of the size spectrum, the Oppo Reno15 Pro Max, aka Reno15 Pro in India, got second place, but this is no silver medal – it’s more like “second to last loser”, considering that less than 10% of the vote is in the Max’s favor. Admittedly, some would-be buyers were left out due to regional availability issues (5.5%), though not as many as with the mini model (8.1%). We still haven’t heard anything on a wider launch, by the way.

Again, look at the yellow slice – it’s actually the biggest of the three, suggesting that people are more likely to go with one of the other two Reno15 models over the Max.

That other model probably won’t be the vanilla Oppo Reno15, though (surprisingly, this one is also called the “Reno15” in India). Nearly half of voters decided that they could get better hardware for their money outside of the Reno15 series. The corresponding share in the Pro Max poll is pretty high too, but here it is the biggest of the three.

And the vanilla model doesn’t have regional availability as an excuse for its lowly 10.2% “yes” share. Not because it’s more widely available – the phones are available in the same two markets. No, people just don’t care for this phone.

While scrolling through the comments, we found few kind words for this Oppo Reno15 trio. Complaints about naming aside, the major issue with these three seems to be their pricing. It wasn’t the only concern, but the value proposition just isn’t there – a few months of price drops could have people revisiting these Reno15 models.

I nearly choked when I read your comment. The battery in the latest iPhones is one of the least durable available: 1000 cycles, while some competitors offer 1400, 1600, 1800, and even 2000 cycles. High-end models boast capacities between 7000 and 800...
