Huawei has unveiled its latest Mate 90 series phones in China, with the Mate 90 Pro Max sitting at the top. The phone offers a large 6.9-inch display, a triple-rear camera setup, and supports a unique 1-inch module camera system.

The triple-rear camera setup on the Mate 90 Pro Max comes with a 50MP main camera that uses a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor with OIS and a continuous variable f/1.4 to f/4.0 aperture.

It also offers a 200MP periscope telephoto that features a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor with OIS, and 4x optical zoom. The phone also features a 40MP ultrawide camera and has a 3rd gen red maple color sensor.

For selfies, the phone gets a 13MP ultrawide camera along with a 3D Depth sensing camera.

Huawei is also selling a Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition, which supports the company’s Ruiying Z10 external camera module, which features its own 1-inch RYYB sensor and offers 10x continuous optical zoom.

The module offers 24 - 240mm focal range and an aperture range of f/2.0 to f/4.5.

The Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED display that supports 120Hz refresh rate and offers a peak brightness of 12,000 nits.

It’s powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and runs HarmonyOS 7. Notably, the 12GB RAM models use a Kirin 9050.

Huawei has included a 6,800mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The phone also offers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, StarLight E2.0, NFC, eSIM, and comes with an IP69 rating.


The Mate 90 Pro Max is available in Crystal White, Emerald Green, Obsidian Black, and Rose Gold color options. The Collector’s Edition, meanwhile, is only offered in the Emerald Green shade.

Pricing starts at CNY 9,499 ($1,420) for the 12GB/512GB variant, with the 16GB/512GB model priced at CNY 9,999 ($1,490). The Collector’s Edition is priced at CNY 10,999 ($1,640) for the 16GB/512GB option and CNY 12,999 ($1,940) for the 16GB/1TB model.

Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition Pro Camera Kit with the Z10 modular camera and other attachments is priced at CNY 19,499 ($2,910).

Also, the Kirin 9050 Pro is a 5nm part, not a 7nm one.
